Mike again....I believe you could be limiting your ability to be totally comfotable in off piste conditions (ungroomed anything) if you totally rely on just the big toe...
If you watch Harold ski on video....you'll see he uses all 4 edges of his skis as all great skiers do.....remember Harold does talk about 2 footed skiing, releases, etc....

Still....whatever keeps you turning and hungrey for more on the mountain albeit BTE or LTE...it's all good!? ;D

G,
Mr. Gary's got a hungry heart, Mr. Mike's got a hungry heart......for skiing.
(sorry bruce)

My real strong wish this year is to explore some true off-piste. My reality is I'm an ice coast skier, especially in s/e Pa. On our days at Holimount in April, we were doing some work on JC's technique that included feathering more weight early onto the uphill ski and I fully intend to explore it this year in JH. It's rumored that I might have a friend there who's willing to share his So. Americian experience. It's pretty easy to transition weight onto both ski's, float more in transition and ski with flatter ski angles.

To clean up a prior question, PMTS has no claim as the only high edge technique. I just think of explaining it in high edge carving outcomes. I may very well be wrong, but, I think of JC's method as low edge. With PSIA, there's much less of a system and an individual instructor can  pretty much get to teach what they want, perhaps in a manner similar to golf instruction being different one instructor to another.
