LP:

You have company.    I heard someone ask Harald how often he waxed his skis. His response was "I ski on the edges, not the base" but really didn't answer the question I guess.  However, Lynn was telling me a second hand story of someone who observed Harald, while riding on the chairlift, taking off one of his skis to do a bit of work on an edge.

I, on the other hand, don't even do my own waxing, so that puts me in a real "gaper" classification.
