For so many years most of us have become accustomed to skiing the "new" skis with lifters or plates that perform a variety of benefits.

I just posted a review on the IM82 which I ski flat..no plate. The review speaks for itself. This ski is designed to be skied? flat although Ron has the very same ski with a LD12 Tyrolia binding and matching plate. He bought it very slightly used and that's how it came.

I'm making an educated guess here that if you're a good skier and planning to use the AMC 76 for your crud busting and powder ski, the plate probably won't be necessary.

Typically, the plates on skis provide quicker edge pressure to the ski due to the additional height and leverage. This kind of leverage is usually not required in crud and powder where a bit of softer pressure to the edges is all one needs.

I can tell you with the IM82, plate was not missed at low and high speed groomers as well as powder and crud.

Still, you could put on a binding without the plate and add one at a later date if you find it difficult to get pressure to the outside edge. See if there's a binding that will match up to a plate so you might have that option.

Hope this helps a bit,
Gary
