Interesting. Do you notice the weight inside your jacket?

I used to use a backpack with a Camel Back in it.  Stopped carrying that because of the bulk on my back and the tube would freeze up (even with the neoprene cover).

Now I use just a dedicated CamelBack but wear it inside my jacket.  On my back, so out of the way and yet small enough not to push me out of the way on the lifts. And, since the reservoir and tube are inside my jacket they don't freeze up.
