I agree on the resistance/strength training but I am 51 now and for the past 25 years I avoided it and ignored it. Not sure how old you are BW (I am guessing late 20's) but as you get older it is definitely somethiing to start working into the program. I was very focused on my weight for racing for many years. There is a balance point between strength/power and weight. On the bike it is easy to meaure power (SRM or any good power meter) and max steady state (the gold standard for one's power output ability). Too little weight and the power definitely goes down. Too much and the power does not increase enough to offset the added weight (hence lower power to weight ratio). If I could do it over, I would have focused more on power/ less on weight and I would have been faster and had a better power to weight ratio. 

I do have no regrest. I raced hard and had a lot fun and stayed in great shpae in the midst.
