Max beat me, but...

LP: I'm not sure they are similar. A brushed carve isn't a "very quick displacement of the ski tail".  It's a soft edged displacement of the entire ski laterally, it doesn't change the orientation of the ski to the fall line (as pushing the tails around the corner does).

To me it almost looks like he's hopping from one pair of edges to the other with a hard edge set on the landing.

I'm still waiting for the instructor thoughts and observations.
