I'm probably naive, but I was absolutely amazed at what a small percentage Vail ski instructors get paid when they deliver a full day private ( at $775, up to 6 people).
I'm used to the government "staff aug" type contract where the direct salary is roughly 1/2 the billing rate; and the gross margin covers benefits and leave. Ski instruction is clearly a different world.

from My understanding Vail pays less than stowe but is still amoung the best in the country. Aspen is one of the few places that actually approaches 50 percent of the take on private lesson.
