Interesting  , I was looking at the 170s as well, apparently quickness is their forte.  I really shouldn't be going too fast anyway.  I've decided to go with the shorter lengths and try the new technique.  Since the 170 is the second longest I'm thinking they were meant to be skied shorter.   

I'll be up in Vermont April 5-10 and in December over Christmas break.  Next year, who knows.
