Weather report. According to the Farmer's Almanac the winter weather forecast is for much lower than normal temperatures and above normal precip in December, and average January, and below average temperatures and average moisture in February (with the potential for a major storm around President's day.

Now I don't know if the farmer's almanac forecast here is the same as for upstate New York, but they correctly hit last December when they forecast the early season "really cold" spell, but missed some of the later prognostications (I hesitate to use the word prediction, since that sounds more scientific).
