Solitude sounds great -- we'll have to make a day there.  The Cottonwood Canyons certainly are scenic, even in the summertime.  Great place!

I hear you about the boarders.  More than once have our kids nearly been hospitalized by a flying boarder who couldn't see them (or couldn't be bothered to turn his head to look).  For night skiing, we've taken to attach blinking red lights (like the cyclists have) to the backs of their helmets just so the boarders can spot them.  Sounds hokey, but who cares? It works.  Anything to keep 'em safe.  And the teen boarders seem to like the lights, and always comment on how cool they are.  Our local hill, Blue Mtn., luckily, is expansive enough that there are runs which seem to attract all the boarders, and as long as we stay away from those, we're OK -- room enough for everyone....
