Back to the poles in hand! The straps are permanently attached (obviously appeals to those with certain fetishes ).  However, if one was to follow a certain skier through the trees (rhymes with "whim"), I wouldn't wear the hand straps. The grips are tactile enough to hold without the extra security of the strap. It would be a bit safer when skiing the trees.

As for Steamboat bound skiers...........th e straps could always be removed and put to use in other ways  .  Unfortunate that your departure date is tomorrow..........w e could have expedited a colourful ensemble to you, coordinating with each outfit
