as far as trees go, its not recomended to wear straps of any kind really. The Lekis will release but you really don't want anything tethered to your hands. Anything that catches will still have to create enough tension to unsnap and that will depend on the angle that the pole or arm gets snagged in a tree or branch. Even those nice soft-looking pine branches are not so soft with a little speed or rebounding from the skier in front of you.

Speaking of trees, We just finished skiing some great stuff, check out the trail map but we hit Twister trees, Closet's Shadow, preist creek, Twilight, 2 and 2:30 tress as well as some other stuff between Hurricane and other runs. Sweet Stuff. A friend from Epic, "Ski-ra" who also has a condo at the boat took us around and we really had a great time.
