Glad to see the forum back!
« on: February 12, 2008, 08:06:18 pm »
Thanks to those who fixed the hacked forum. And I am glad the hackers did not disturb content.

How's everyones ski season so far?

I am at the Harb Blue/Dark Blue camp at Solvista Basin learning how to ski like Gary Cassara ;D
Well, not quite, but one can dream, can't one? Amazing changes happening in campers skiing. It's also interesting to ride the main lift at this small resort and be able to pick out the PMTSer's. As we practice on our own in the afternoon, watching other participants from up high, you know they are participants because of the smoothness of their moves.  Everyone has improved.

Share tales of your season to date! We live and learn from each other. :D

My mind shudders to contemplate, but does that mean that you have bought a Orange helmet like that thing Gary wears.
But, I guess if it makes you ski like Gary, then I would buy the Orange helmet as well.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the camp.  Skiing in the mid-atlantic has been pretty disappointing this year.  I'm hoping to get another week in Colorado at the end of the year, late March or early April.

Based on the amount of snow Colorado has gotten in this La Nina year, you are lucky to be out there.  I'm very Jealous.   :'(

PS:  Midwif, as the official vocabulary maven, is it "bought a Orange Helment" or "bought an Orange Helmet".  I always thought it was an before words starting with a vowel, but "an orange" sounds really weird???   ???

PPS:  Could you ask Diana how Maria Fermoile is doing.  She was my instructor, and got really wiped out by a boarder, broken pelvis and stuff and I haven't heard how well she recovered.

Forum was restored by either Peter or the staff at the Web Hosting Site (I assume the latter).  I sent Peter a message one night, the forum went off-line the next day and was restored the day after that.  Glad to see that the backups were so good and up to date.

Could have been much worse.

Hi Jim!
I will ask about Maria tomorrow.
I also believe that the rule holds true here ..."an orange"
No, I believe that an orange helmet would clash with my teal/olive jacket. Too  many colors going on. Brown would be okay, but I bought silver since it was 30% off, fit my head and the last one in my size. SO NO COMMENTS about my helmet color, even if it doesn't going with my spring colors on the color wheel. >:D (where you picked up that info, I shudder to think of ;)

Interesting that the Solvista site does not mention the smattering of snow we have gotten most days. A freshening only of 1-2 inches, but keeps the slopes in very nice condition. A great mountain to practice drills on as our skiiing is 'deconstructed' and we slowly put it back together again.

I have benefited from the group lesson. Visualization is one method where I make changes. As I watch others and the eye becomes able to see smaller movements, I can relate it back to my skiing. I stand there, waiting my turn (hate to go first) and try to feel the movements in my head first. Everyone learns differently, but I much preferred this to the private I took with Harald last year. Looking at the videos each day of oneself and the others helps you see and learn where we all fall into bad habits.....and what to do to create new ones.
