Season Pass
« on: April 07, 2008, 05:40:17 am »
My wife and I have hit Mt. Snow quite a bit this season and have really taken a liking to the area. On the way up yesterday, my wife starts talking about getting season passes. To make a really long story short, we ended up getting passes that are valid every day, but the major holidays. That ended up saving a few bucks over the "regular" passes. We're kinda kicking ourselves for not getting these back and March...we could have used them to ski for the rest of this season. Better late than never I suppose!

Talk about putting the cart before the horse....we were scoping out realestate in those little magazine things they had in the loby at the place we ate dinner. So then I told my wife: "You know, if we get a house down the road, I'm going to need a snowmobile for up here...."  :D

We're hoping to pick these up this weekend. Screw the rain, it'll just keep the lines shorter!  ;D

I do love technology though. I remember having to go to the mountain, get your pic taken...then they'd laminate it. Granted, this was back in the 80's and 90's. I've already faxed the release form, signed, back to Mt. Snow. I also e-mailed them the required "driver's license" syle pics they requested.

yeah, SB has a similar program. I am waiting for more resorts to bring in the scanners that can read the pass through your jacket. This is used in europe and I think Snowbird (?) is used them this season. You can put your pass in a pocket; many european jackets like Descente and Kjus have the pocket right at the bottom of the sleeve by your hand. No need to have it out or go fumbling for it. It's actually quicker and easier for the lifties too.

Kinda like the e-z pass they use here on the east coast for toll booths. That does make a lot of sense. I noticed how much it slows things down when the attendant has to run around and scan all the passholders. It's even worse when you have a short line.

yes, Exactly! Since the resorts can't find employees, this would help lessen the number needed.

I've been somewhere in the last couple of years where they had that, but can't remember where.  may have been Breckenridge.

I do know that Copper has a special pass that allows you to bypass the lift lines and that is an automatic turnstile doo-dad (and it's not that much more, if you ski Copper on a busy day it is highly recommended).  You ski up, the light comes on, you ski right on through.
