Todd/Mike/Ron/Perry:
Thank you all.? I'm not sure what 62 is supposed to feel like, but it's not nearly as old feeling as I thought when I was 20. I did 1300 miles on my bike this summer, and while I'm sure that's nothing compared to what John B probably rode, for someone who only started 3 years ago it is something that makes me feel pretty good.?
I did pick up my
"Mariella's" this past weekend, and I really like the Head Power Rail setup.? No center rail, absolutely no tools to move or adjust boot sole length, and the rail appears to be at least 3/8" lower than the older railflex.? I never cared much for the Elvira character on late night television, so I have received formal permission to refer to my skis as "Mariella's" instead (see the email thread below).? I first asked Lynn if I could call them "Lynn-Z-Belles" but she demurred the high honor of having her name used for a pair of skis.?
Comments from the ski shop where I picked them up.? They refer to them as the "Gandalf's" because that is the name I had embossed on the tail.? They had clearly become a center of shop attention and part of the family up there, the owner told me he even washed the skis with soap and water for me because there were so many finger prints on them.? Looks and construction appear to be first notch, even to people that have been around the industry a lot longer than me.
I have a few concerns, listed below and probably in this order.
1. Are the skis heavy? Realskiers says they ski light and lively, but what about lugging them to the slopes.? I measured with my luggage scale last night, and my Watea 84's (a subjectively light ski due to the carbon fiber I-beam) weighed 14.4 and the Ullr's Chariot's were 14.8.? Pleased by that.
2. Is the mid-section flex too stiff.? Peter has raved over the edge hold of some skis in the past that others referred to as Bulldozers or Tanks.
3. How about their stability at reasonable speed given their relatively short running length.
4. How well do they handle deeper snow, given the much wider platform but again with the shorter twin-tip length.
Thank you for your kindness and compliments...
Thank you also for your help promoting Ski Logik skis.
As for the inspiration...I always am attracted to the ethnic indigenous tribes, their culture,? art, music and dances.? So, with
Elvira I tried to capture the Polynesian culture with a gentle yet powerful flowing image.? And I think you are right about me
identifying with Elvira...there are some common elements.
Have a good day,
Mariella

I would be interested in the inspiration and the idea that led you to create and name the Elvira graphic, since I think there is a lot of your free spirit expressed in the flowing nature of the image.
If you don?t mind, I think I will call my skis ?Mariella? :-)? since the free flowing art seems to be more your spirit and I?m not that keen on the name Elvira.
But I can understand why you and Dave would not want to name the artwork for you.
But yes, I fully expect that ?Elvira/Mariella? and I will have a lot of fun with each other this winter.

My skis arrived yesterday, and they are wonderful.? Thank you very much.? I like the dark (Walnut like) veneer even better than the
pictures I've seen with the cherry background (and those are what initially caught my eye).? Great choice, and you were also right
that the white of the name is MUCH better than black would have been.? Very well done, and a very enjoyable process chatting with
you as well!? Hope you and Dave?s ski activity stays VERY busy for the next 6 months.
