Jim & Midwif Trip report
« on: March 16, 2011, 12:36:41 pm »
First of all, this isn't from Colorado.? It's just that we often hear people talking about the East Coast's "Blue Ice" but seldom see pictures.

Kind of hard to see, but the ice is a good match for Midwif's eyes.   :D

Skiing in the trees in Blue Sky Basin at Vail (behind the back bowls).? I think this was Pete's area, to the left on a trail map.

And no, I didn't have the nerve to disturb the "balance of life".

Sevaral Breckenridge pictures from the top ofthe T-Bar that goes above North Bowl (under Peak 8 summit).? Beautiful, and the trails looked so far down.
Obviously, that's not us -- but looking down the T-Bar gave a good perspective of how far above the regular trails we were.

And they were having Mardi Gras week in Breckenridge!!  Kind of entertaining, even though the crowds and the weather certainly wasn't New Orleans.

Gary
That hat has great memories associated with it.

I bought it at RS 1 (the Beav). I hadn't brought one with me and my head
was quite cold walking around in the evening!

My favorite winter hat since.
Pretty much my only winter hat!
Except for my second favorite winter hat....my helmet! Love the Variant with a SmartWool beanie on underneath.

Yes, Vail was a LOT of fun. We had the most days of fresh snow this year that I can remember.

Glad to hear everyone seems to have had an outstanding ski year.

Sad, but for me, the ski season is done.
Thinking of the garden, biking and green times ahead.?

Sometimes you just need to let your Bad Self ski!!

Yes we did.
I left a couple of unplanned "SNOW ANGEL" signatures.
Amazingly, I think this was actually the day after the snowfall. We felt pretty lucky to stumble across this when everything else was pretty skied out.

Gary: Absolutely agree. I think we have had at least one 10" plus snowfall on each of our three trips starting back in December, plus several more days of smaller snowdays.? Sadly, I have to admit at one point complaining to Lynn that we hadn't had any 'bluebird' days this year.

A lovely ski year in all ways.

Yes, left my tracks for others to follow!
Lots of fun.
Really beautiful in there. Quiet, cold, sweet.

Now, looking at the first picture, there is a distinct glint of mischief in Lyn's eyes.  Innate in her character, I would guess.  Now, looking at those pillows of snow on the branches......Jim, if I were you, I wouldn't be caught under one of those if Lyn were within a Leki poke of the tree.  Do you carry an avi beacon? Or at least a snorkel?   >:D  ;D
