SVMM and PMTS Meet-Up..Did this happen???
« on: April 17, 2012, 07:09:46 am »
I was poking around the internet ski forums, I came across this thread on the Weekend Warrior Fourm (the SVMM crowd):

http://www.weekendwarriorsguide.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=312

Did this ever happen?  I must admit I'd be interested to hear of any common ground or shared Ideas between HH and the Cordeau crowd.  Any PMTSers know anything about this??

Maybe..I never could make hide nor hair of what Joey Cordeau was arguing for (or with)-but his skiing and that of the others on their website is pretty darn good...looks kinda carry to me.  I'm sure they use an edge set somewhere...

Anyway, Since they made that post-and it sounded like something that had already happened--I was curious to hear what came of it.

I don't know, in their promo videos and the videos of Cordeau skiing bumps (and just free skiing) it looks like more is going on than short swing turns, don't you think?.  I never got the QCT....frankly, I think they were trying to build on the successful nomenclature of PMTS.

Anyway, if your camps ever get together (they run a summer bump camp at Hood...don't you guys do a summer race program?)-I hope someone posts up the highlights.

Sun Valley puts out some good athletes (not tied to SVMM with the exception of Shane), but everything marketed by the SVMM group screams gimmick to me.

All-Mountain: A common descriptive term for boots or skis that are designed to perform equally poorly under a variety of conditions and over many different types of terrain.

I actually got suckered into buying the SVMM DVD many years ago.  Worst skiing DVD I've ever purchased.

Never heard of that meeting. No shared technique from what I have read.

My understanding is that the QCT is a classic PSIA swing turn that ends in an agressive edge set.

that what I see about it as well. Not exactly the best turn to do all the time as your only turn IMO.
