Anticipated Trip Report from Gary at Jackson Hole
« on: January 26, 2007, 07:58:57 pm »
IMHO, we need a first hand trip report from Gary of his experience at JH.
First off, I think Gary needs to share his perspective of being frozen and then revived by
a rescue dog.
1. How does it feel to be frozen to a chair lift? :o
2. How does it feel to be peed on by a rescue dog?? :D
3. What are the sensations on ...arousal from the dormancy of deep freeze to wakefulness? 8)
4. Why did care of the supershapes come before that of your wife??? (we wives want to know!) ???
5. How were the conditions? :D
6. What is JH like? descriptions, please. :D
7. Any night life?(uh, besides the silk undies type night life, please)
8. KNOW YOU HAD A GREAT TIME!!!!? ;D

Those of us who live on the east coast are living vicariously thru you and others going out west, so please share the white sensations! (though finally snow is being made now that temps have finally dropped)

okay, enough silliness.
I obviously have too much time on my hands. Not enough skiing.

Hi Lynn...sorry it took so long...you know, ski here ski there....I've been very fortunate to have some nice opportunities. The JH adventure was our annual anniversary trip and was wonderful..

So here goes...Ok, so truth be known, it was me who breathed life back into the rescue dog...

And yes while it was cold, 20 below the first day...we had no wind, lots of sun and dressed with 3 layers on the legs, 4 on top, toe warmers and hand warmers for my gloves which came out by noon. Frozen to the chair only with awe the mountain views offered.

Although I was never peed on by a rescue dog, I was once peed on by a monkey in Florida...but that's another story.

Well Lynn, although it appears to be quite personal, "the sensations of arousal from dormancy of deep freeze to wakefulness" started with donning my NEW silk underwear which I highly reccomend...no stink here guys,.....to bright sun and perfectly groomed trails...cause we had no big dumps.....yep cause when the cold hit your face..."you was awake"!

Hmm care of the SS....you know Lynn....taking your skis to the mountain is like taking small children anywere, you have to make sure they have the right wax on....don't get taken a way by strangers, and arrive with their edges appropriately sharpend...you know, just like children. My wife, well she skis fast and knows the "run away drill"! Nah....she's hot so I'm always watching out for her for sure....dam the torpedo's and the SS....wife comes first. .....well......is it a powder day?

The conditions there...we had cold weather and just a few inches of new snow fell the entire week. We skied 6 days and absolutely loved the trails and diversity of the terrain. They had bowls to ski, some nice blacks and double blues. It's not really a good beginner mountain but any strong intermediate would love it. What amazed me is even without new snow, they had so many AWESOME trails to ski where you could ski groomers, bumps, into the hard packed tree areas...just a bunch a great terrain to play with. My only concern is that my virgin SS's got hacked up on some rocks I didn't see in the trees...but that didn't keep me out of them. The terrain was just that good.

The resort is 30 minutes from the airport. Driving through Jackson you see Snow King, the oldest and steepest resort in the state. You pass a huge elk reserve where you see them all bedded down. Great musems, shops, massage spas, restaurants where the food is very reasonable. The resort has some very nice restaurants as well as the Mangy Moose which is a must see and great hangout for skiers. Had their chips, cheese and halopeno dish wish the 4 of us could only eat half. Great ski people there to talk to as well.

Great Trivia...popluation in Wyoming....500,000.   How many silver dollars are in the bar tip at the Silver Dollar Bar in town....2032!

Cool mountina stuff: They have photographers taking photos all over the mountain and got some great action shots.

Yep, you're right, we had a great time and would go back again. Only regret is my 82's stayed indoors and never got to the Hobacks or any of the great they say tree skiing due to the lack of snow. Still.....there's so much great terrain to enjoy. Would I go back...darn tooting....but...st ill...Must get to Sun Valley.... maybe for next years anniverary.

sounds like a great trip and a great mountain. It's on the list to get to one of these days.
