Skied up at Park City and Deer Valley over the weekend. Got to test out the boots (other thread) and a couple skis.
Kastle MX98- 174. 1st off I love this ski, second, its just too short. I wish it was a 178.. This was the older, non-rockered version. It is a fantastic ski. all of the fun of the MX line just wider yet still a lot of fun; just too short..... So, its sold already!

Rossi S3- Rossi had a free demo tent going so why not? I grabbed a 178 S3 while Gary stayed outside because he didn't want to demo anything, he already had his MX78 and didn't need any other skis..... (you already know where this is going don't you). We headed up the lift. right off the bat this is a fun ski. Super nimble, quick, easy to get up on edge and taking it into manky foot-plus deep, sun baked snow, the s3 just glided through it like fresh blower. A total blast to jib off stuff on the sides of the run and although I was only on a blue it was stable at moderate speed. Only downside for me was that its a little too soft and a bit too much tip rise.
So I called the DOCTOR; Dr. PHIL that is; and he prescribed a Blizzard THE ONE in a 177. A bit stiffer, a touch less rise with a little bit more run. It also takes the IQ slider plate and I got two plates: 1 for griffons and the other for dukes.... Perfection.
Gary.... well Gary did eventually try them and well, I'll let him post about that....... (but I am sure you know what happened,,,,)
