What a killer season! THANKS!!!!!!!!!
« on: April 25, 2007, 07:21:26 am »
It was my best season hands-down and I feel like the season isn't over yet, just in a hiatus. I was talking to my boot fitter and was telling him how my whole world of skiing has made a 180. I used to only interested in carving on groomers. Now I still like good high speed carving but I will take off-piste anyday. It started with getting my boots dialed in so perfectly, after years of poorly fitting boots and being out of allignment, and then everything kind of came together. I have to give a big thanks to Gary. He really got my technique straightened out. I was never able to ski bumps but now I look for them, albeit, soft bumps! Gary got my turns smoothed out and really brought my skiing up a couple of notches from the first outing in BC.  I also learned to ski trees from new friends in Steamboat, Nicole and Brian. They are snowboarders.  I was really intimidated by them before but now another obsession. I also owe a big thanks to Michael, Jim, Jbotti and Phil pugliese (over at epic) for really helping me towards go wider and that you are not giving up anything, only gaining. Skiing trees and powder required different skill sets (3-D, not just left/right) and fat skis will allow you to ski the trees faster, in more control and with much less effort. So many thanks to a lot of people out there! Sorry to ramble but I was thinking about what a great season it was!  My typical season was skiing in BC in December and then skiing back east on crappy terrain, occasionally hooking up with someone for a day here or there. This season was awesome, Skiing with the "Realskier I" gang, Gary, Michael, Ed and Lynn then Skiing in Steamboat with Biran and Nicole; then up to Rochester to ski with Gary and a couple of his friends at 3 NY resorts, Back to Steamboat with Gary and then one more trip to the boat with my friend Owen. Lots of great turns and experiences along the way. I also appreciate evryone who posts here. It's great to have an outlet where you can talk to someone else who shared the same passion. I'm sure you all have the same problem of not being able to have conversastions about skiing with "civilians" I am so pysched about next season already. Stay in touch this summer and keep in shape. I hope to jump out in July to Mt. Hood.

Michael, Ron, Gary, Midwif:

I wouldn't say that I had a killer season this year, but I would like to say that I had a killer amount of fun with all of you here at RealSkiers.

Michael, maybe you should consider attending a Harb race camp in June at Mt. Hood?

Thanks a bunch.

Ditto on the people who shared and supported my great season, we are a mutual support group and the skiing just gets better & better.

Jim, The harb race camp is on my list of things to do. JB has done the camp and considers it the "most fun" of all the camps. Not this year, however.

Cheers,

Michael

Lets try to stay active this summer.  I had a great ski dream last night and I taped a ton of ski and snowboard shows to watch this summer.  We all get along so well here an I am really hoping everyone can make RSII in Steamboat, but if not, there are plenty of other opportunities.
