Yes, Glenn, you MUST come!! Gary needs a new pair of skis to have a "moisture event "with!? ;D :D

You know, rather than poke fun at Gary, we just need to help him.? I find it pretty callous that the man has a certain problem with incontinence and all we do is bust on him.? I'm almost 60, and once I get to the point of having that problem I would hope that other people treated me with the respect that the aged deserve.? ?>:D

Option 1.? Maybe if we bought him some BIG-BOY pants he could get himself potty trained.
Option 2.? Surely there is something like a "reverse camel back" designed for liquid out rather than liquid in.
Optoin 3.? Can you spell "DEPENDS"?

Yes Jim, there are options for Gary
1. Big Boy pants are available for 'larger' Boys, but I am sure that Alice has tried this strategy.
2. The "reverse CamelBak system" is known as a urinary catheter. I have experience with these. They are painful to insert. Again, since Gary's wife is a medical professional, I am sure this has been considered and relegated to "an older age".  Alice MUST have another way of keeping the bed dry!
(Hmm, maybe a porcelain potty by the bedside with skis painted on the inside??)
3. Depends: leave an unmistakeable whiff of acrid, aging urine. Socializing then becomes minimized.

*** We might have to insist on option#2, the catheter. Tubing taped to the inside of the thigh and the bag on the leg. To be emptied at appropriate mountain "pee breaks" .  Supervised by Ron, of course. Ron clearly needs to protect his new yearly acquistions! >:D >:D

I love the creativity of this group!

1- big boy pants? Nahh, he's not a baggy pants- off -piste looking guy.

2- Catheter, yes, painful, yes, have you seen the diameter of that camelbak hose????  >:D >:D >:D

3- "DEPENDS"  I like it, can he spell that in yellow?

I must protest and iinsist that another take over the job of supervising the "purge", Since Ed doesn't post here, I nominate him  ;D

I do need to protect my Gear and from what I see here, we all have new skis with the exception of Gary..... We need to bond and protect   ;D ;D

Speaking of new skis, guess what I picked up on Friday? Yup, I got 'em, and boy are they sweet lookin' lil' hummers!!!

There are some pics below of them with my wife's SS Speeds ('07 model), and you can see the differences.  Not just the graphics, but the sidecut and the bindings have changed.  These are now called FreeFlex 14 Pro, and as you can see in the pic, the springs are gone, as is the plastic plate joining the toe and heel pieces -- there is now a metal plate, which I guess is stronger, but looks kinda cheap.  Under the bindings is the new SP13 plate, which is definitely wider and seems a bit more robust.  With the springs gone, there is no way to stiffen the rebound tension as with the old binding (not sure if this is good or not -- perhaps the new plate adds some rebound stiffening).  Otherwise, the old and new bindings look almost identical -- just some cosmetic changes.  The flex appears to be more or less the same -- mine are a wee bit stiffer perhaps, esp. in the tail, but I believe Head designs them so that longer lengths are made stiffer.

I just love the graphics on the Supershape line, and these are no exception.  Gary said it right:  "The freakin' things look like they're flying standing still!" Racy, classy, timeless design.  Can't wait to get on 'em!  Is winter really 6 months away? Bummer!

Svend:

I certainly mirror your comment that the open metal connector plate really looks pretty cheap.  Doesn't seem like it would have been that hard to come up with a color coordinated plastic cover like they had for the FF+.

However, congratulations.  Nice looking skis.  Now if you would just cut some grooves in your wifes skis, then she would never be able to keep up with you.

Thanks Jim.  I had actually schemed to do something to slow my wife down.  Grooves may be a bit obvious...perhaps a sticky wax would be more subtle? Beeswax oughta do it - that stuff is pretty sticky. Failing that, a thin film of road tar would blend nicely with the black bases.   >:D

just have gary pee on them a few times!

Awesome skis. I love the use of black and red on the Head grapics, very cool. Enjoy, How many coats of wax do you have on them now? Did you hot scrape them and then clean out the strucure?  Also, those should be 1:1, make sure you take them 2:1.

Ron - not sure how many coats of wax the shop put on.  They didn't scrape, and left a thick coat on for summer storage.  They did use graphite wax (whatever that is -- has anyone used it?).  Regardless, I'll leave their wax on for now and redo the whole thing in the fall, including sharpening to 1 base, 2 sides.  We've been using those angles on our skis this past season, and it's worked well -- a good combination of grip and agility.

First let me say no Depends or cathider even if installed by good ski buddies. And just because of all the loving I've been receiving regarding coating a certain gear **** skis with a special internally warmed protective coating, I'm going to start raising my aim a "wee" bit and spread some of that love to include all of you. Figure if I start higher, there will be a dribble down affect...there..... now come stand close to me my pretty!!!!!>:D

Viking interesting set up on that binding...not sure what the features are..can you explain?
Do you know if the rest of the Head line is following suit?
It looks like it might be easier for the pilot to move the binding forward or rearward...is this the case?

As said before, they sure are sweet looking skis and as far as slowing your wife down...
Get a head start!  ;D

Best,
Gary

Viking BTW...i went back again to look at the bindings and I think ...your wife's binding adjustment is set in the firm spring condition.

I think when the screw is in the bottom position, it allows the ski to arc more freely...and I will check on my skis tonight.

Actually if you place the shovel up on a bench or chair and place your knee in the center of the ski and arc it. Try that with the screw in the 2 positions offered. I think you'll see the difference.

It would appear this is NOT an adjustment you have on your new rides?
