I live north of SLC.  I hike most mornings before work and this morning I was trudging through a few inches of snow and temps were in the low 30's.  I don't know if snowmaking is possible yet, but a late October opening someplace would be killer.  (My Birthday is late in October and sometimes Mother Nature gives me a little present like that!)

Thanks for the post!  Pictures would be much appreciated.... Still too early to build a base but it's great non-the-less

I drove up to Tahoe today. There were snow caps on the highest peaks and Boreal (a little hill that can be seen from the highway) had been making snow at night. That's early for Tahoe.

Montana got 25 inches over the weekend!!!

We went to Mt Snow this weekend...it was sunny and in the mid 60's.  :o  Great weather to be outside though.

Home!  Its a good sign, not that you can read too much into it but there has been a consistent pattern of moisture funnelling into Steamboat and the wyoming areas. Keep the fingers crossed. We may be able to avoid sacrificing gary afterall..... >:D

it better! 10-15 degrees above normal for the past 2-3 weeks here. My guess however is this is really the new norm.

New England is funny like that. I just think it's getting the warm out of it's system.  ;D

http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions//multi_season/13_seasonal_outlooks/color/churchill.php  check this site out! It has the NOAA predictions for temps and precip.  There's some hope yet...

I've kicked around making a mini snow gun this year. I mean, I already have an air compressor for my air tools.

In general, I'm completely whacked out on skiing. The town next to me has their "bulk trash" pickup. I slammed on the brakes this AM and did the tightest U turn you've ever seen a Grand Cherokee do. I snagged 3 pairs of old skis someone was tossing out. I've been looking for freebies to mount on the side of our shed. Two weeks ago, I was scouring the Vermont craigslist for old chairlifts. I found someone in Dover VT who had a few old chairs from Mt. Snow. I was ready to hook up the trailer and head north. Hey, for $25.... But they had already been sold according to an e-mail from the seller. Plus, my wife wasn't too keen on that idea. "What exactly are you going to do with it?" "Well...uhhhh, I'll hang it somewhere...or fab up some legs and make bench out of it...it doesn't matter...it's just cool to have." Her response: " ::)"
