Same with the other system.  Most folks find the light or non-weight-bearing end of the spectrum harder because of the balance challenge it presents, so early instruction focuses on this aspect.  At higher levels, those folks learn to live on all 4 edges (although on groomers they spend most time on the free/light controller foot end of the spectrum.)

LP:

We would much rather have your "shameless" posts that qualify you as a real person than the truly shameless crap that gets posted by webbots that can enroll themselves and then post 'stuff' untouched by human hands.    :)

I bid you welcome as well..

Living Proof,

Welcome!? I always liked your name and its etymology on Epic.

I'd forgotten there was a thread about Speed Management.? I notice now that the Queen Regnant of Speed Management hasn't shared her technique with us.?

Midwif?? What's your secret?? (For those who don't know, on a slope where most skiers take off at warp factor 10, Midwif makes graceful, elegant turns at the speed she chooses.)

The secret??
I think how embarrassing and painful it would be to have to be brought down the hill on a sled. ;D

Hmmmm.? I think its all about the Fall Line.? (no, Lynn, not the fall line of specials on Tramdock).

If you are never in the fall line, then .........

However, I have it on good authority that she CAN ski pretty fast, it just takes the correct motivation.? "Bet you can't beat me to the bottom usually works."? Gets the competitive juices flowing.? Challenges her womanhood.? ?;D

Todd,
Hey, if I knew Living Proof had an "etymology" I'd a picked a different nom-de-plume.

Here's another question........
While learning some bump technique this past winter, the first goal was to slow down and use the anatomy of the bump field to my advantage.
The second part of the lesson was to do drills to get quicker feet

Where's the balance in Slowing Down to Get Quicker Feet?
Sometimes you just need to let your Bad Self ski!!

Trish, excellent point! Often overlooked as you say. That's one thing Phil hammered me on was entering the line at a very slow speed, made a huge difference.
