Great ski Phil.....but I went with the Progessor 8's from Fischer and really like the ski for hardpack up to 4-5" of snow. The also work great in the bumps.

It's time for new boots and since Head fits my foot well....I've been giving some serious thought to the Raptor LTD 110/100.

Still doing my research.

I can't comment n the Raptor LTD, but I ski the Raptor 130 boots. While I think that ski boots are more about fitting to an individual foot, I will say that the snow feel and edging ability of these boots is very high, and they are way more responsive and sensiitive than the old Head race boots the black RD and RS 96's (which were quite powerful but more like tanks). As well, the Raptors do have a much more anantomical design and I have had to do much less grinding in them than in the old head race boots. Lastly for a race boot, on off ease is pretty high on these, though no where as easy as a more recreational boot (less of a factor for you in the LTD).

It appears that it is the same boot as the Raptor Supershape RS, they both have the same flex, the same last and it appears that the only difference is that they come in different colors.

Thanks Guys...

JB....I rode up the chair and made some turns with a local Head rep today at our local mountain Bristol. He speaks very highly of the Raptor SS RS. I've skied the Head RS80 for 4 ski seasons now and that boot actually helped square up my stance without cant strips or boot sole planing.....Head boots seem to fit my foot shape very well. The new Raptor looks like the next evolution from my RS80.

Phil....Thank you kindly for your offer. I now have a credit from Head at our local ski shop. I'm going to order the Raptor RS Supershape Monday. Hopefully, I'll get some turns on them before snow season departs.

Snow was great today.....firm in the early morning and spring snow late morning...a real blast to turn in. Still loving the P8's.

Best,
Gary

That leaves the obvious question.  Will the Raptor Supershape RS "blend" with the orange Descente ??

Hmmm.....Ok Greg....I did ask our fashion consultent....RON.. ..

He stated that since the red boots would be covered up for the most part by my ski pants and the 18" of  snow we always ski in it's no big deal.

Now....you should know it's easy for me to pick you out with those baby blue Langes you wear.... :o If I could just get you to wear a Burton ski blue park jacket...

Yes....we all have our identity.....My colors are certainly.....LOUD ENOUGH!

Still havent' put the boards away....hoping to ski Holiday Valley this weekend.

Say Greg...did you get the photos of you and Charlie from Steamboat?

Best,

Great on the pics.

 :'( on the 60 degrees....but hey....only 10 months till RS 4...sweet.

Still decent overnight temps here with good bases at most NY state ski resorts. Gotta few more days out on the boards before giving up the ghost!

Greg..have you given any consideration to what ski "we" should all be on the look out for ya?

Yes....I know....they should have some blue in them to create the appropraite connection with your boots.

Let us know what you might have in your sights. There's going to be tons of sales out there.

With the weather, no more "trials" for me.  Looking for a soft in the tips and tails, soft snow ski that will work in the those glades and bumps.

I've already ordered a public enemy in 179, atomic snoop daddy in 176 and may yet order a scott punisher or a pilgrim.

These will all be evaluated via a hand flex test and once over for build quality and only one will get the nod.

The Atomic sounds very nice.  Twintip, 92 underfoot and described as a firm mid-section with soft tip and tail.

Picked up some Griffons that will probably be the hardware which should make for a nice "light" set-up.

Greg...I checked out the Snoop Daddy on the Atomic site...sweet looking ski....wood core...nice!

176 length.... with dims of 128.5  93 117......sweet twin tip.

Could be a great choice! Very similar to the dims of the Pilgrim.

I believe you need more than the PE offers especialling at the 179 length.

I do hear what you're saying...a nice even and softer flex ski that can hold it's own on hardpack as well as kick butt in the soft and variable snow conditions we encounter. Must be bump worth as well!

Keep us posted!
