Hi Phil!
I would also be interested in the FX84 176cm. What is the price? It's very hard to ignore all 5's. I am assuming that I am talking to the right Phil and I also have the suspicion that they may not be available to demo in the Tahoe area.
Thank you, Nevils

Yes it is the first ski to get all 5's. The MX 88 was close last year when it had all 5's and one 4.

Way to go Nevils!! I am feeling better already. Phil will take good care of you. I think if we keep this up we can get at least two more pairs sold to forum members, and that's just the pre-season sales. When we get these on snow and are living in permanent ski nirvana, Phil will be sold out quickly!!

What is interesting about the FX84 (and FX74), it was originally conceived to be a backcountry ski to mount a free heel type binding on. It just turned out that it is a magnificent frontside ski too.

As is so often the case, ski manufacturers that make burly skis, often it is the less stiff versions that are actually the better skis.? I still have not been on the MX series (and I clearly want to try the MX 70, 78 and 88), but it sounds like if there is a place that they might go wrong with these skis it is in making tthem too stiff. This is only from reading reviews and not from being on them. I think it is also important to remember that the MX series in Peters tests are all gettinng ridculously high scores, so clearly they ar doing a lot right even if they are on the stiff side!!

Same results were found with the Icelantic Pilgrims....EMS had more of the skis in stock than any ski resort.....they were selling them for backcountry skiers...

who wudda known....it's such a verstile front side/back side ski....Ron told me Icelantic is now marketing it as their all mountain ski....it is a great one indeed!

I actually skied the MX78 and liked the Fischer Progressor 8 better....probably cause the 78 was stiffer and at my body weight, the P8 was more compliant.

My wife owns the MX78 in a 156 legth and she can't say enough good things about it. It's her front side, bump and powder ski....

In checking the Kastle web site....I couldn't find the FX84 listed...thought that was kinda strange....maybe they just have not updated it yet.

Best,
G
