Todd, I like your PMTS passion. Toe Nail Clippers? New PMTS technique? Two years ago, I lost my big toenail due to skiing. I ski tomorrow so I clip 'em tonight. We all need to move to a higher level of the basics. What moves are you continuing to work on? It seemed that following the camp, you loosened up and just let the work you did take over. Next year?? Highest on my wish list would be PMTS spring race camp in Oregon. My wife, the tennis diva, could come along for afternoon and night stuff.

Where are you skiing tomorrow?

Things have come full circle for me.? 2 years ago at camp everyone was told to work on flexing deeply to release except me (I had overdeveloped this relative to other movements.)? Now everything else has caught up and rapid, deep flexion coupled with bulletproof pullback is my SMIM.? My goal for the next 3-5 years is to lose ski patrol's nickname for me ("carver") and slowly develop a serious mastery of eastern bumps.? It won't be easy owning a true BPST in all conditions, but the journey should be rewarding.? As you suggested, the camp was a season warm-up for me.? I'm taking 3 days of privates from Diana in February to lay a good foundation for eventually mastering these short turns.? I am passionate about technique and not just because I'm the analytical type.? Upping the technical level of my skiing increases the kinaesthetic pleasure I find in skiing.? "Cleaning out the carburetor" sure did feel good -- g forces, delicate precision timing, finesse yet total commitment, and the whole universe shrinking to a small neighborhood centered around my ankles.? To borrow Ron's word, "FUN!"?

I'd like to take the Mt. Hood camp in a couple of years.? Maybe I'll see you there? :).

Todd,

My friends call me "brusher". :o  You must be one a very few who got deep enough in flexing to warrant Harald pointing out other areas. I did spend a little time yesterday working on deep flexing and the "long / short" leg movements. It eluded me; need more time on basics. Three days with Dianah, hmmm, Marine Boot Camp for skiers. Enjoy, it's an experience I'd do with a world class smile on the face.

You've sure got the long term vision thing right. For sure, putting all the individual pieces into a complete package is a driving force in our shared view of the skiing. The next turn is an opportunity to get a little better. If skiing ever comes down to turn right/turn left, I'm out of here. Still, I just let it go on some runs. Awesome feeling.

Minor rant on. Yesterday at Blue, the ski instructors, who don't have a lesson to teach, go out for a group seminar. While riding the lifts, you can't help but observe their technique. It's greatly unfair to judge instructor skiing quality because most in the group are new and learning, but, the the amount of skidding is unbelievable. (Yes Ron, there are some very good skiers in that group, far, far better than me). Speaking for myself, PMTS has provided a vision of what good skiing is about. Minor rant over.

To expound a bit further and beat the dead horse a bit more.......

I did exactly what you are doing Ron. For many years, I skiied quite happily, going into more difficult terrain
and trees and bumps.

At some point my appetite for diversity of terrain and skill levels were nowhere on the same plane. :(

Hence my desire to improve technically. So when I grow up I can ski where you do! ;D

You already did your clinic this year! In south america. You're just WAY ahead of the rest of us. >:D

Sending you all in SB xmas kisses. :-*

Lynn

Lyn,  thanks for the chuckles@!  2 things- 1- its  not where you ski or what youski- its just the fun and enjoyment factor. 2- never use the term clinic when describing skiing with Egan:) Its really an "anti-clinic" :) I'll explain in Aspen...
but typically Clinic implies some semblance of organization, intent or purpose...

A couple of my friends i sked with in chile came up yesterrday, we were finding some fun stashes off into some of the trees, I was following Craig through some really nice powder, he has TT's so they were really kicking up a lot of snow, unfortunately, I was too close to him, and couldn't see a big compression until the last second, my tips dug in on the up side and I double ejeted, did a complete flip and landed on my back. I was like a turtle sunk in deep!  It was so much fun.

Ron,
Take care!!! You've got Aspen & JH coming up. No bionic man stuff no matter how well conditioned you are.

Its all part of the experience folks. You have to be out there pushihg it and getting the goods.? We were ducking ropes yesterday getting into 2 foot plus powder shots. Doing some hiking to get sweet lines.? No point in not enjoying the skiing now!? You can't really ski if you are afraid to take some risks, skiing off-piste always has risks but it aslo has the biggest rewards. You will hold yourself back. I am not hucking big cliffs, it's just some good fun.

The title of this thread could have been taken two ways....I debated taking it the latter.  >:D

I'll give HH when,

Ron gives up Icelantic's,
or
Phil remains true to any one ski for a month in ski season.

Trying to figure out is I should claim credit for a subject wording that can lead in different directions, or, damn Phil for being creative in sticking it to HH again. Nobody quite like him in the internet skiing world.

Lynn, creative path to open up.  :o We should create a "philpug" award for such retorts! ;)

You don't have to totally give it up.. just the OCD part!  ;D  It would entail not using acronyms other than PBR...... ;D
