Elk Demo Day
« on: January 05, 2010, 12:32:58 pm »
Friday is the annual Elk demo day. Phil is 70% sure he will be there. Last year, Head, Dynastar, K2, Rossi, and Elan were there; Phil tells me Kastle will join the group.

Going to the demo day with Phil is a little like watching a dog in heat. He's a maniac going all over working the reps. He was right-on with his recommendations for skis. Last year I was interested in 90 ish waist skis and liked Elan's 888 best. Elk skiing last year was very tough due to rain then a very hard frost. This year, it should be good with a chance of snow.

Ok, ski selection people, give me your best recommendations on what to demo. One will be the Head 70TT which is supershape'ish. Other than that, I'm open. Would like to at least 1 100 waist. Anything you want to hear about?

get on a pair of kastle 84's  and 78's for sure. I didn't see Line as one of the vendors but you can also jump on their 90 if they are there.  If Atomic has their Blog ski, jump on that if there's fresh.

Well, that's true but I was thinking of the others, BTW- 70TT, usually tt denotes a twin tip, I can't beleive this would be the case.

Yep, but in this case it's "Torque Technology"

The claim is that it is longitudinally soft while still being torsionally stiff.

Very interesting and very cool!  I would be interested if they decide to put that into wider boards.  that's the same design in Icelantics. Kastles too-at least that's what it appears to have been done in part. I understand that kastle actaully designs in a Head office but operates separately.

FWIW, the TT (I think TT80) was what many of the Harb instructors were skiing at camp instead of SuperShapes.

you can't ski on fat skis........ ;D

that sounds like a nice ski. as long as they didn't make it overly damp.

Ron,
The Head series is called the Icon. It almost funny that the number designation of the ski ( 70 or 80) has no correlation to the width of the ski waist.

And yes, this the Harald approved ski. It's also the only Harald approved ski I intend to ski that day. This day will be given over to my evil twin brother to hit up the fat ones. >:D

Yep, they were on the Icon TT 80's.? The Icons are said to have a more slalom feel than the SS since their tail isn't quite as fat as on the SS.? This enables them to release the turn on demand rather than lingering for an instant like the SS does.? They're 66 underfoot, the same as the SS.? They're designed for railflex 2 compatible bindings, so there's no carve plate? ???

Mike, I hope your evil twin brother and you have a great time at demo day ... be sure to give a full report? :)
