Well Lynn...I did not know that you almost tried a pair of Kastle....that's closer than never considering to try a pair.

Maybe Big Sky will be your momment that single fragment of time you slip into something Austrian and let them fly......you must keep us posted if that day happens.
G

The Kastle 'almost demo' occurred even before you guys arrived in Aspen!! It wasn't even peer pressure at work.

I was impressed by their lightness. And I was going to demo the FX, not MX. I liked the frontside groomer ski. I may still try to demo if I can find a place that is a bit more demo -friendly pricewise. The KOA 84 is on my demo list too (female watea), got great reviews. But doubtful I'll actually buy anything new for a year or two. Unless the best deal ever happens to cross my path. ;D

 5 semesters left.

And I would like to point out that I have been slipped into something Austrian for a few years. Head skis, you know, the roommate with the Kastles. :D

L,
They say hurricanes start when a bird flaps its wings in Africa. The Big Sky experience may be fluttering in the wind.

"Make it so #1."

Okay, who wants to go BIG SKY next winter?
There are some nice ski in-ski out 4 bedroom homes on VRBO.
Even larger if more are interested.

How about a ad hoc committee forming to begin planning for next year? (or is that a steering committee)

L.

Nawww.? That has to be a "carving" committee, or at least a "drifting" committee.???? ?;D ??? ::)
or, if anyone remembers from a couple of years back on Epic, a "waist steering" committee.  ???

In Snipe hunting, we call this shooting cripples.? ?>:D >:D >:D

SLIPPED into something Austrian, like those Head ski boots?? Ron, Gary, Ed, and the ski store clerk at Beaver Creek will all attest that SLIPPED is not the proper description for you and your boots, whether it be getting in or getting out!!!

Hmmmm.? ? ??? ??? :o? Gary/Ron?? What words would you use to describe that experience.

OK, I will TENTATIVELY commit, but I'll be doing the "Yellowstone is Beautiful in the Wintertime" tourist thing for one day and not skiing.

Ok...Lynn slipping into something Austrian....Head does certainly apply...

NOW slipping into your memorable boot moment....."slipping in" to me conotates something quietly done.....it was anything but quiet....it was well...."moaningful" Yeah....that's what it was.

Big Sky...I know ALice wants to go back there again...

What time of year were you thinking Lynn?

It is a little harder to get to because of the 11/2 hour or so drive from the airport but a wonderful mountain when they have snow.

Seeing Yellowstone is a great idea Jim.....Here's the link!? http://www.nps.gov/yell/index.htm >:D

With regards to BS, why would there be a NIH vocied from the "moaningful" one!

I must admit...Lynns current boots have become rather boring...I mean no cursing, moaning no natta when she puts  them on or off...gesh...we have to always embibe in the past....

Jim...I think she's ready for new boots....so the fitting process could begin again and and there will be  new stories to share...but if not Lynn......

Now correct me if I'm wrong...but did I hear someone say you were getting a pair of Head Raptors when you returned home from Aspen Jim? Well?

I was thinking late february/early march. But am open to suggestions!
I thought it was just about an hour from Bozeman to Big SKy? Typo or were you driving from someplace FAR away? ;D

And I would take that day off to go to yellowstone. I have read that the "snow" sculptures in winter are amazing. Especially where the geysers erupt and are frozen.

Ron, I don't know why you are so focused on groomers?? ??? ???
With those big, fat babies of yours, you should have no problem.

Me, I just throw myself down those slopes on my skinny skis. ( hear the sound of false bravado).

Big Sky 2011 in gestation.

Actually Lynn was looking at boots in the store at Aspen when we saw the Kastle 78 available for demo.  I guess she must be thinking that since its no longr a struggle to get her tootsies in and out that there must be something wrong.  However, I have also seen a couple of times when she had to wait 20-30 minutes for the boots to warm up enough she could get them off.

Yes, courtesy of Lynn I have a $300 pair of Head Raptor's that I am going to begin breaking in evaluating this weekend at Whitetail in Pennsylvania.? That's about all I want to admit to at this point, but they weigh almost a pound less each than my current boots. They feel less stiff than my current boots, but probably aren't and probably will need to be softened.? I was actually quite surprised when I first tried them on, didn't feel very stiff at all (relatively speaking to current boots, I guess).? Had also tried on some Nordica's and Dalbello boots, they didn't seem to fit my foot as well.  However, I am a little bit scared because the Raptor has the same low instep that Harald bent into Lynns boots.  They bite when yuo take them off.

Only time will tell.

The most amazing thing about this thread is;
1)How entertaining it has been for the last three days.........I keep asking myself, "Should I throw gasoline or water?" ? >:D I remain uncommitted. ?boring! ::)
OR
2)The fact that Gary's yellowing of Ron's ski's was mentioned in the middle of an "epic" pissing match
OR
3)My vote is with this choice.....the Kastle's have obliterated any mention, no not one, of the use of the JJs while at Jackson Hole when I know there was powder present that they had to ride in.....astonishing!!!
