Lynn, Jim and Ron

Least  we forget, a Elk mini-trip is something in the bucket that need attention. Maybe Gary can drive down if he ever appears again.

OF COURSE!!? ?;D ;D ;D

How can anyone even contemplate a ski season without experiencing the grandeur, the magnificence, the immense vastness of terrain at lovely Elk.? Lynn and I will certainly be there a couple of times.?

?;D ;D So while her daughter is going to school in Eurpoe and skiing the Alps, mom will be at home skiing Elk??? ?;D ;D

Welll, the Alps aren't in the Czech Republic, but they are closer to her than Killington is to you (welll, almost)!!? And who would compare the Austrian Alps to Killington??
===========================
While the Czech Republic doesn?t have the highest mountains or best slopes in Europe, there are plenty of ski resorts in the country, stretching from the German-Czech border to throughout Moravia.? Intensive skiers are likely to look elsewhere, though: the Austrian Alps, for example, are a nine hour car ride from Prague, and boast competitive prices for skiing and lodging (though food ? eating out ? and other goods will be more expensive) and some of the best all-around skiing in Europe.? The average height of a mountain in the Alps is nearly twice that of the tallest mountain in the Czech Republic, and the resorts are also best equipped for sport.? For fun, however, there?s no shortage of places to ski in the Czech Republic, some of which are just an hour from Prague.

Almost??? ???

I've driven from Prague to the Alps before and I?thought it was a long haul, but then I'm not from Kansas? ;)

All 3 of the Czechs in my group at work are skiers and two of them are pretty strong.? That speaks well for the Czech ski areas.? The Czech Republic is a great place and I'm sure Lynn's daughter will love going to school there.? (What a cool Mom Lynn is to support this!)

Any drive less than 8 hours is a walk in the park, anything more than 15 hours is a long haul.? I have driven non-stop (except for rest area naps) from here to Kansas a couple of times and that IS a long haul.? Kansas City to Colorado ski resorts is 10+ hours even with the "posted" speed limits of 70-75 (and longer if the Interstate gets closed due to blowing and drifting snow), but a lot of Kansan's still drive it at least once each winter.  The open spaces give a different perception of long distances when compared to you New Yorkers.  ;)

I have to admt that I am very glad that "I am not in Kansas any more."

WELL I THINK SO, but you know this generation. They EXPECT this kind of stuff. >:D

I am teasing a bit. I think its great for young folks to get out and experience a different culture and to hear/see about the US from a different perspective.
My son went to McGill in montreal. Even though it's not that far away, it really gave him a wider appreciation of different cultures and points of view. The student body at the school was VERY international as well, giving the chance to meet lots of diverse folks.

I hope the same for my daughter.

But doubt I will get there to ski. May not get there at all ,to visit as she is only there for the one semester.

Calling that the FX84 in 168...
I owe you a beer when we meet up, and I assure you, we WILL meet up this season!

Livingproof, sorry but you were a teensy weensy bit off, but thanks for playing.  As a parting gift, I'll let you buy me a cup of coffee when we ski together. :)

Lynn, back on topic, I think the best way for me to keep the momentum during the summer is to keep active mt biking(and golfing).
I find that much of mt biking relates to skiing, especially with tree's and obstacles.  It has helped me a LOT with the head games I get when skiing.
Sometimes you just need to let your Bad Self ski!!

Ok Lynn....I here and not in Kansas anymore.

No excuses for not being here but an Elk trip sounds good....as does a get away to Stratton or Okemo.

Svend mentioned something about Mastiff....long haul from here but doable by flight.

All is well here though with 55 days before I slap the boards back on....got our Portillo trip with the Clendenin group. Alice wanted to experience the mountains of Chile. Hoping the snow is as good as it was last season.

After that....I'd love to get a trip to the Swiss Alps and ski from town to town in Italy...Yeah!

No new gear on the horizon...although I'm trying to find a pair of Atomiic Heave and Hells, 153 length for Alice. She demoed them in some great snow at Jackson last year and was hooked.
Besides all that....new basement project, new grandaughter and loving life.

Best, g
