the thing is different boots are going to be good for different things.

I still do not get the entire Knee Rotary thing and reading about that I fell I do not ski that way. Although I differ from the most of the board and feel you need rotary to ski alot of off trail area, I do not differ in a I feel that most people over use rotary when tipping and pressure movements can get the job done alot of of the time even off trail.

with that said I am skiing 2(maybe three) boots this year.

140 Flex Krypton Pros
150 flex scorpions

and maybe a pair of 120 flex Cochise so I do not have to hike in my Kryptons and more.

without a doubt the Scorpions are way better on smooth hardsnow, but I feel like I ski much better on the Kryptons off trail, being able to flex your ankle is key IMO to being able to ski better off trail.  Which last I checked there is alot more off trail skiing than groomer skiing.

I know that each time I have gone to a stiffer boot my off piste skiing has immediately improved. I am not a big believer in flex if you use tipping movements as your primary move. It is definitely easier to use rotary movements in softer boots, hence the reason many skiers prefer them. If you tip first it is very difficult to ski in soft boots. In general for tipping we want the heel back, the ankle flexed and closed, the foot/ankle dorsiflexed and this sets up for maximum ability to pressure the boot and ski laterally. Too much flex makes it hard to stay in this position.

It all depends on how you want to ski, or how you already ski.

My ankles are really closed here and I am tipping if your lower legs are strong enough you maintain any position you want. I have a huge range off motion and regually knee myself in the chest while skiing bumps. To kill that range off motion in anywould be pretty dumb.

there is no way I could flex this much with out being thrown in the backseat on conventional boots its also mid turn

I guess we are talking about the difference between what is possible and what is optimal. You can tip in soft boots, and I can tip in soft boots (and some skiers won't be able to). I am looking for the boot that will support me best in tipping first and will make that move easier. Stiffer boots certainly make this easier for me and for most skiers.

yeah that is a very small Dolphin turn. he is flexing his ankle alot which in stiff boots is not hard on carving skis on a groomer because there is ALOT to push against! In soft snow and bumps its is alot hard to do what is

morning folks
This is my first post.
All great information.  I opened this thread to get information on the PMTS.  So far nothing has satisfied that.  If I wanted a boot discussion I would have looked for that thread.  So please get back to the topic or give me an link so I can read more but not whats his name account of his camp experience.  thank you and let's pray for snow here in the east.   ;D

Welcome to the Real Skiers Discussion Group.

Could you be a little more specific about the PMTS info you are looking for. Google "PMTS forum" as that is the official site with a ton of information about Harald Harb's technique. There are several members who are very dedicated to using those movements, but, we don't get into too much detail in this forum. Ask any PMTS question and you'll get a good response.

And yes, we need snow in the east, or, at least the cold weather required to make it.

And, our threads take some weird turns. Staying on topic is not a hard and fast rule.

Yes Thank you.
I know staying on topic isn't the normal for most sites.  Now that I have gone there I will need to stay on topic myself.

I will look at the PMTS forum Thank You midwif    :) ;) and  :o

Most people, when seeking to join in and participate in a group, do not start off criticizing the assembled group. As this is a small forum, thread drift happens and is tolerated. A simple request for information related to the original topic is all that's ever been needed.
Please feel free to introduce yourself and describe your level and type of skiing.
The PMTS forum IS The best source for a complete understanding of PMTS.
Frankly, you're posts sound more like a troll and exhibit a lack of respect for the other posters.

I'm sorry that I came across that way.   I been skiing since I was 8.  So that makes 58 years.  I call my myself advance always looking to get better.   So I'm interested in the PMTS to see what I can gain from that system.  So the thread title made me think that it would be more on what makes the system better than the rest.

It looks like I best get one of the books Harb has and go from there.  For now that is all I can afford.  A camp would be great at sometime in the future.

Again I'm sorry that I came across to you as a troller.

Thanks for introducing yourself.
I am very glad you are not trolling. And I apologize.
Easier to understand the misunderstanding now that we all know english is a secondary language for you.

English is my first and only.

I guess I should change my name so it matches my location better western Maine  not downeast Maine.

Actually I from RI (Rhode Island) you know the smallest state with the longest official name.

Okay Folks.
Enough.

This thread has drifted into an area that many of us early posters vowed to stay
 out of.

Everyone here knows of the PMTS and Epic ski past antagonism.

Please continue any further conversation regarding posts made in other forums in private messages.

Lets keep the neutral zone, neutral.

Thanx, Lynn

Ok, time to put the "mod" hat on, and, ask all to abide Lynn's wishes that this forum not become a battleground about what happens in other forums.

No more "yeah, but,...." on this issue. No getting last word in. Take a deep breath and let it go. If you want to continue the discussion with another member, the PM system is available.
