An addition to Lynn's Quiver
« on: November 28, 2011, 02:30:37 pm »
Thinking that she is well setup for the coming ski trips.

Her new (designed by yours truly) skis.

Yellow Roses are her favorite flowers -- so the artwork is yellow roses as done in wood.
And the grain in the base veneer is pretty awesome looking.
Ohhh, and by the way, "Sage-Femme" without the hyphen translates to "wise woman" but with the hyphen it is the French term for "midwife".  How cool is that?  (but the name was her idea, the yellow rose layout was me and my "support team".

Jim, which ski logik skis are they? The Isis TT's? Chariots?

Well, congrats to both Jim and Lynn on the new addition. ;D And, Jimbo, you creative monster, you! The custom graphics are so cool, plus, the name is icing on the cake. Now you need to find a way to keep up on the slopes.

Somehow, I'm not surprised that a pair of SkiLogic's have made the way into Lynn's quiver. Is this the same model Lynnzbelle demo'd in Summit Co last year? I do remember some ooooh's and aaaah's resulting from the experience. Team SkiLogic has been elevated to the equal status with team Kastle MX78, better known as Gary and Alice.

Hope you all find some nice powder in Co. in a few weeks.

Jbotti:   Yes, ISIS TwinTip in 155 (123-90-113, 15m turn radius).  I still think the 101 mm Ullr's Chariot/Goddess is too wide for someone that had to stop running last year because of knee pain.

LivingProof:  Lynn and I  agree that it was a 155 length and 90 underfoot and that she really liked them; I thought it was the Isis and Lynn thinks it was the Rave (but most of the Rave's are 92 underfoot).  Unfortunately, Ski Logik puts the ski name on the boot line (under the binding), so couldn't see the model because it was covered by the bindings.

Congratulations Lynn! And well done Sir Jim! The skis look beautiful.  Just a wonderful work of art.  I'm a big admirer of fine woodworking, and the inlays and marquetry on those are just fantastic.  Never thought I would see something like that on a ski topsheet.

And the motif you chose is creative, meaningful, very touching.  Seems a shame to get them on the snow, hitting ice, getting wet....yikes.  Pamper those babies, Lynn! They really are very special, and to arrive on Thanksgiving weeekend was such nice timing -- a premonition of good times ahead  :D

All the best, and enjoy!

Lynn,

How many more days until that early December trip to Colorado?  I bet you're counting the hours now.... Have fun breaking these beauties in!   Will you pose with your yellow rose as the Ski Logic Babe, or does Fischer have an exclusive contract with you?

PS  Mariella's so last year.  With this upgrade you should face no competition at all from that wayward one ;)

Gary:

Review already posted.  She demoed these last year at Vail (but without the stunningly designed artwork, of course).  :D

Enjoy Utah -- we're going there in January.
Lynn has a Win-Win situation. She has new Progressor 8+ as well as the Ski Logik's, and is looking at new boot liners as well. Can you tell her daughter is in her last year of college?

Hey Jim, what bindings where you and Lynn thinking of? There are some classy looking ones out there now, that should go nicely.  Clean, sleek, not clunky and obtrusive.  Something with separate heel and toe so as not to hide the nice wood? Look makes a nice one in brown colour that might go well with the wood of the skis....?

EDIT:  sorry, just remembered -- I think you mentioned a while back that you were going with a Railflex......corre ct?

Ah yes....I can see she's got her perfect 2 ski quivver...sweet!

AND Jim...I always thought she was your windfall!

BUT still...having kids out of college or at least soon....heavenly!

Yes Jim....Railflex for that ski...really? I'm guessing when she demoed it, it had virtually no lifter on it.

So..what binding are you thinking? I put the Griffon Jester 13 on mine just because of the ability to move forward and rearward +3 each way....I think it's lighter weight than the Railflex system and it has a nice wide footprint for the fatter skis.

Just curious to what binding was on there when she demoed....

Gary, good question about what was on the demo.  I don't really remember, but the middle of the ski was hidden so it had some sort of plate on it. Hmmm.  Actually, it was a demo binding, but I don't remember what.

For the binding, we're doing the Tyrolia/Head/Fischer PowerRail.  That's the binding that came on her Progressor 8's, so we can put the same rail on the SkiLogik's and she can have two pair of skis with only one binding.  The PowerRail is lower, wider and lighterthan the Railflex, much easier to remove or adjust the heel and toe pieces, has a wide and a narrow dampener and about 6 different brake widths available.

That's what I have on my Ullr's Chariots -- works just fine. Feels better than the railflex (I think, not sure I'm a good enough skier to feel any difference).

Sorry to be late for my party! ;)
Been in "no computer land" and missed the fun.

So, you all ask. How do I like my new skis??
Well, let me tell you a bit about Jim.
Jim is completely unable to be patient once he has bought a gift.  :o
If I would only pester him (when he drops clues) about the gift and try to guess what it is, he
would be a happy man.
However, I LOVE to be surprised and as I grew up without birthday/holiday presents, have the ability to patiently wait to see it in reality .

So, the bottom line is......I too have only seen these beautiful skis via virtual reality. I have not had my  hands on them yet. Or my feet. But am really looking forward to it.

And I have already told Jim I may cry the first time they get scratched.  :'(

As a bit of backstory, Jim remembered me telling him that my father bought my mother yellow roses at my birth. I was very fair, blonde and blue eyed and my coloring was a bit of a surprise to my dark haired parents. (No, don't go there, I look just like my fathers other relatives).
My mother told me this story for the first time when she gave me a dozen yellow roses for my 40th.

And I had also told Jim that if I ever got myself a pair of Ski Logiks, I would not put my name, but my moniker in french, just to be a bit oblique.
So I have to give Jim credit. He managed to reaffirm my liking for these skis, the story, the moniker and get it all done without giving any clues! A great surprise! ;D

Looking forward to seeing these babies in real time on real snow in the mountains.

And thank you very much, Jim. :-*

Too gooey for you Gary?? :D

Can't wait to try out my new ladies.
Nine days til on the snow.

Though to be honest, it seemed like summer just ended.
Maybe the fact we are still getting out and doing some biking makes
snow still feel far away.

Ullr, bring on the cold temps and the SNOW.
