Jim...it would be my pleasure to put a "Gary Supertune" on your skis. I always bring my own files, polishing stones, gummy stone, sandpapers, file guides, brushes and waxes. Walk you right through the process. I've been doing them for years, attended some "swix" clinics on tuning plus numerous other resourceful teachings. There's nothing better than a final "fluffing" of factory tuned skis before they hit the slopes. The hand tune brings them to perfection....and that's my story and I'm stickn' with it!

Ron....ya da man. Ya making me hungry already!

Lynnn...gotta be steppn' up from oatmeal or....splitting meals with me.

I ONLY get up that early in the morning to deliver babies!! Nothing else breaks the sanctity of the morning rest otherwise.
Unfortunately, my comment about sartorial splendor last year is now haunting me. Ron has better ski clothes and cooks better. Two gold stars to Ron.

Jim...i've purchased skis from Dawg and still have found with his tunes as well as factory tunes....all final fluffing should be done by hand with loving care with a passion for perfection.

Now, about being 2 fast.....MAKE MORE TURNS! I'll guarantee you, we ski together, you'll be feeling much more in control. They do make webbed sky diving suits....hmmmm....w hadaya think?

Hmmmm....I could mix sand in a hot wax for your bases...I'm sure that would slow ya down.

Nope...come make turns with us.....Heck, you'll be begging to take us out for surf and turf!

And Lynn...I'm sure ALL the guys would agree you look more fabulous than Ron does...barring him buying that one piece gold ski suit.
As far as getting up early for drills,...THIS IS VACATION JIM.....you'll hear loads of stuff on the mountain you can work with if you want....just ask....nothing shy about this group.

Best,
G

First and foremost, Lynn, Jim, Mike and Gary (he knows this rule already) there are no friends on powder days so anyone not at the gondi for 1st chair or even the early bird chair (7:30) will be missing out on freshies and the best lines. So sleep in, make your oatmeal, do whatever you want. Its just more pow for me!

Lynn, I said I was cooking all this stuff no one said it was any good!  But how hard is it to grill?

I have bought a few pairs from Scott but I always have the release checked and have them re-tune to 2:1. Then I hand tune to refine and perfect. Don't forget 2 coats base wax and then 2 coats rax wax on top. I really like the stuff www.racewax.com sells. I use the cold weather molybendum wax. It's a think wax that's a bit gloppy but it is fantastic stuff.

Ron, I'm pretty sure with this group, if there's freshies on the ground.....they'll be oatmealed up, S,S, and S or waxed (Lynn) and at the lift.

BTW Jim..I'm hoping he tuned your skis to 1 degree base and 2 degree side, and not the reverse is what you posted...was that a clever test on your part?
Ron, as I also believes in a good "hand fluffing" of your skis for that personal touch.

Come on oh modest Ron, it's all in your preparation...you know the seasoning. Hmmmm...seeing some parallels in cooking and skiing.
Good product and preparation makes for a great experience. Gee...how prophetic!

Starting to see cold spots in the US on the weather map. Oh yeah!

I am always up for spending others money on ski gear!  Just let me know and we're on. Stunning? only when I run into a tree....

Yes, skiing and cooking, its all in the prep and the right ingredients and tools. No point in cooking with dull knives...How's that Gary?

Ok Ron..we purchased new knives at Casa Cassara....so there.

OK Jim, not that I'm a fashion wizard like Ron but if I was to associate your writing with your dress style and to find stunning on the dial....

I'm thinking blue could be a good color for you, no not Basin Street Blue. A soft blue jacket with bright white pants...or facsimile thereof. It says "confident, but real, it says, I'm blue sky and white snow, humble a touch of trashy.

You see, then, you'd be stunning, well in the not so direct way as hitting a tree of course.

This combo of Sky Blue Jacket and white pants would  have woman swooning at your feet so make sure you add a little hop to your downhill ski skills.

Thats as far as I go...there are others here better qualified (Ron, Lynn) to find swarthy and stunning outfits for you.

Just one mans humble, and whimsical conclusion.

Gary, the knive thing was a clever analogy about knives (skis) and cooking (skiing), you need good, sharp knives (skis) when cooking (skiing) get it?  :)

The outfit choice for Jim sounds great, lets buy him one, Jim, please post your CC# and shipping address. :)

OOHHHHH Death blow on the helmet!  He's very sensitive about that helmet!

Yes, Gary is VERY good about encouraging others to buy stuff. You all will learn that he is the king of instigators.

Ligth blue and white jacket, you need brown pants dude! Think contrast.  Ok, you also need to sign up for Steep and cheap!

If you don't know about this little gem, you need to become addicted like the rest of us.

Jim...fortunately I'm not a person whose feelings are hurt easily from bashing material things that are near and dear to me. Things that allow my friends to find me skiing in a crowd, things that give my tiny ego a boost, you know that make me feel part of something special.? I'm really not a vindictive man really I'm not......I have to pause a momment............ ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... ................... .............. You see, I.................. ................... .well, I just love my orange helmet and now, I hope you buy brown ugly pants to go with your "pretty" blue and white jacket.

Take that.....and I'll be the guy next to, in front of and behind you reminding you that your skiing with butt ugly brown or black...yuk...pants .

Have you given any thought to how nice a burnt orange helmet would highlight your ski ensemble?....you know...like an upside down exclamation mark!!!!!!!
AND, me with absolutley no knowledge of your blue and white jacket...how weird is that. Can you see how nice white pants would be a great combo...(forget the brown, come on Ron...got to do better than that). Just trying to bring your self estem up to Rons level...cause when sitting in the bar.....clothes make the skier!

Jim, I'm just an orange kind of guy...and I'm OK with that!

All done now!

Jim, that is great service and I agree... plus I like supporting the local shops.

You with your grey helmet next to your boots....nah...I just can't see that, scary!

Lynn, well the next best thing to gearing up to go out and ski is to talking about it.

Besides, we do care about how we look...but it's GOTTA BE FUNCTIONAL TOO!

What can I say!

WOW, that's great service. And I buy locally where I can but since all the shops around here suck, it makes no difference. Steep and cheap is actually excellent and does a great job. I just picked an Arc' Teryx Sigma SV jacket that lists for 350 for only $145.00!!! I needed it to replace my 6 y/o arc' shell that i pretty much wore out. It's hard to argue with a deal like that.

Gary doesn't post on Epic but is aware of the rediculous behavior on part of both parties. There is more to the story though.

Jim....that's actually a tatoo on my left shoulder. I have opening on my ski jacket that allows me to show off where my primary ski skills come from.

I hear ya Ron..so many times the local shops just don't carry the good stuff and when they do, it's priced out of this world.

To clarify, I try and buy my skis and boots from local shops....clothing.. ...we look to see what kind of deals are at the various web stores or buy at the end of season discount. Got that Spyder jacket discounted at my local shop.....and that's when the story of "orange"began.

Best,
Gary
