Ron's picture and Snowhot's picture illustrate well the difference in perspective that the camera brings to the incline. 

What is also really interesting to me is that since Ron had been there, his brain automatically captured the steepness, it was obvious to him.  I have to say that for me, it looked steep but I would have never put a 40% on it.  I just had to trust that Ron knew what he was talking about.  (I think that point has been adequately established here  ) 

Snowhot's picture from above with the tips jutting over the edge and you still can't see the very first couple of feet............... ........makes the heart pump and establishes the 40%.
