Hey Perry -- you might have the same thing.  Because of the esophagitis, I started having chest pain and the irregular heartbeat I mentioned.  Pretty scary, but turned out to be not a cardiac problem, thank goodness.  Nexium helped, but that was just a short term fix to allow the area to heal.  Reducing stress and changing my diet and beverages were the long term solutions.  Good luck with it -- hope it's nothing serious.
