Hi all....yep...we're back from Jackson Hole...veiwing the weather report 10 days before our trip to Jackson was pretty disconcerting. I always look for 4-5 days of sun before we arrive figuring the odds are going to be in our favor for snow when we arrive. Well....we had 3 days of sun and blue sky with temperature inversions making it 35-45 degrees warm at mid to top of mountain while it was -6 to 10 degrees at the base. This meant if you found sun mid mountain and higher, you found soft snow to play in...sping snow...it was a blast. Some of the big bump runs were much to icy for me to play in but the soft bumps built up along the edges soaking in the sun were fun and turnable. Jackson has some serious pitch and terrain so don't make a wrong turn.

After 3 days of sun we had 3 days of snow...1st 2-3 inches, then 5 inches then another 5 inches. This was absolutley rippn' awesome. Some areas had shin high to knee high to play in. We were blessed.

The last 2 days of the trip, we were honored to have John Clendenin stay with us and give us bump and all mountain training. He's so smooth and effortless in the bumps...a pleasure to watch.

Enjoyed great homemade Italian food at Nanis, Ribs and Chicken at Bubba's and as always, the infamous Mangy Moose for Nacho's and my 1 beer.....living large!

Overall a great trip with crazy variation in temperatures and came away with new skills. My wife's moved up a whole level in skiing end of the 1st day with John....very proud of her. I sure am missing those western Rockies!

BUT...Holiday Valley is coming up for 3 days on Sunday with Svend and 5 others and then 3 days in the office and off to Whistler with Ron and EdN....yep..no hardpack growing under my feet.

Hope all are living life and turning skis!  ;D
Best,
Gary

Clendenin rocks! His method improved my skiing in just that one day. We were skiing lines with confidence that the previous day were difficult and unbalanced. He's also an incredible wealth of knowledge and a real nice guy.  Very down-to earth, and a lot of fun during the lessons and at the bar!  ;D

I guess it depends where you ski -- in what time zone, I mean.  My wife and I skied at Deer Valley two years ago on the Sunday afternoon of one of conference championship games -- AFC, NFC, or whatever they're called.  The runs were deserted.  Had most runs to ourselves.  Sundance was on at the same time, so lots of people were visiting SLC and Park City at the time, and we thought it would be super-crowded.  Nice surprise to find no-one there.... :)

Southern VT has a high density of "Tri staters"....CT, NY and NJ. I'm thinking most people will skip the day....or, blast out after lunch so they can get home for the game. Finger crossed.

Ok Greg and Perry....fly into Buffalo, we'll pick you up...come join us....Yeah...ok.... you guys wouldn't exactly fly this way to ski Holiday Valley....but no apologizing on my part...

My feet need to be in the snow turning and since the kids are up and grown and I've got the time....I'm getting as many poor souls to follow my evil foot steps....tis the season to ski our butts off!!!  >:D

Don't you guys hear the call of the Snow Siren's......evil and beautiful at the same time...

ANd the game starts end of day...oh yea....wishing you all were here....yes....Sven d will be!

Got no qualms about flying east to ski.  Schedule doesn't allow it right now but I will take you up on that offer ASAP.   ;D

I would love to ski anywhere right now.  I am currently preparing to leave in a week for the Harb camp at Solvista.  Hope to ski Winter Park on Sunday.  Wife will get boot fitted and we should have a great time.

I actually had a scare last week.  Started having arrythmia and had to have a stress test, cardiology eval.   I was dreading them putting the ol' kybosh on our trip.  My exercise tolerance was great and they put me on some meds for the skips.  No problems for the trip...........swee t.
