I'm a doctor so as per the rule, I don't fit into a nice category.  For the most part, as they are right now, I have no sustained fast rhythm which is good.  That is the main criteria for it being dangerous.  However, when I had a 3 or 4 beat run, it was very fast, which makes my cardiologist nervous.  He ended up calling the Electrophysiologist at Wake Forest, a brilliant guy who happens to be a friend. (I went to the same church as him in residency)  He says, "I called Tom Wannenburg to discuss your case."

So it's good news/ bad news.  Good - nothing bad now.  Bad - "Kind of felt like talking to Tom." (so what made you want to talk to him???)  At least he had access to a quality guy.  Tom is scary smart, was in residency for something like 10 years....kept finding new things to learn about.  AND he is a regular dude....definitely in the "there should be a law against anyone having that much talent and poise club."

Hey Ron, Epic seems to be down for a while for some rebuilding.  I was in the middle of editing a post of mine, and got punted out.  No idea when they're back online...

Perry - interesting.  I had a similar episode years ago when I had some pretty bad erosive esophagitis (I think I got that name right).  The inflammation was so bad that it caused my heart to beat irregularly.  Scary, but all turned out fine.  Treated the inflammation, and heart went back to normal.  Reduced the stress that caused it in the first place, too.   :)  Take care, bud!

Perry, best of luck to you and I wish you a safe trip.

Sven, a whole new "epic" is being loaded up now, my guess is by tomorrow. A lot of new content and features.

Hey Perry...you're the doc mister...but gong to elevation is going to be stressful on the lungs and heart...

Just be aware of what your body is telling you and hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Be safe, enjoy and we look forward to your report on what new ski skills you bring back!

Greg....got a room ready for ya.....still plenty of snow this season!

Best,
Gary

Gary - I'll pay attention to what my body is telling me.  You are absolutely right about the hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.  The good news is that they pushed me to 15.3 mets.  That is more than I would ever push myself skiing unless I tried to ski above 15,000 ft.......not planning on that.  Even then, off medicine, I didn't do anything life threatening.

Svend - you know that scene in the movie - Independence Day - when the father says something about having a cold and the son (Goldblum) says "that's it!"  I have been having some reflux and I did a search and I think that what I have may be associated with the reflux.  I started taking some Nexium and will see what my Cardiac Electrophysiologist friend thinks.  Will still take my meds in Colorado, but an interesting connection.  I discovered my problem eating ice cream on two successive occasions - hummmm.  I'll let you know if anything turns up.

Hey Perry -- you might have the same thing.  Because of the esophagitis, I started having chest pain and the irregular heartbeat I mentioned.  Pretty scary, but turned out to be not a cardiac problem, thank goodness.  Nexium helped, but that was just a short term fix to allow the area to heal.  Reducing stress and changing my diet and beverages were the long term solutions.  Good luck with it -- hope it's nothing serious.
