NEWBIE DISCRIMINATION!!!!

Well it IS hard coming up with the required 4 posts when you know so little about the current state of skiing....I broke my leg in a pair of old cable bindings once...my dad completely tore his achilles tendon skiing in France.  Is there a site for "best injuries?"  or may be "best falls"?   ;D

Be glad, be very glad of the "discrimination" . You have NO idea how horrible the spam had become. It was a game amongst us "old timers" to keep a ski related topic at the top of the forum, as opposed to "Debbie Does Dallas" type headings. Yes, my age is showing.
Welcome to the forum!

Hi midwif,

Thanks for the welcome.  You seem to suggest that Debbie Does Dallas is a bad thing.  But seriously spam can be a bad thing.  Unless Monty Python is involved.  Then you just can't get enough.  But I digress.  I tried to serve my children fried Spam sandwiches like the ones I grew up on and they would have nothing to do with it.  I blame them for reading the lable.

The point is moot, I have my 4 posts.  I was thinking of changing my forum name to "sloped forehead" what do you think?

Which of course leads me to inquire about the origin of "Midwif"

Sloped Forehead
New and unusual, if in name, not actions. ;D
Midwif was a variation of midwife, because I am one, but all the midwife ones were taken.
And since I can't remember different monikers, I use the same one most places. Even if not ski-worthy!
Believe me, the spam headings were without the charm of "Debbie does Dallas". They were er.....descriptive.
And believe me, not just a female point of view.

Tell us about yourself. Where you ski, ht, wt, ski level. You know, the necessities for good ski advice.

Midwif, If I have to post 4 times to keep it clean and uncluttered, then so be it.  Sloped Forehead.  What was I thinking....well, actually I wasn't.  Proof that you shouldn't post after playing poker and drinking fermented grapes.  Thanks for the interest in my self, I have posted that in General Discussion: Tactical or Technical.  JIm Ratliff has given some good thoughts and I'd love yours as well.

Thanks!

Oops, my Technical or Tactical thread is in Open Discussion under General Discussion.? Hmm.. I have modify as an option on some posts and not others, like this one.? Any post gurus want to comment?

Brad:

Do me a favor and recheck some of your posts and see if you have modify permissions on all of your posts now.? If not, reply to this post and let me know which ones don't have the modify capability.? You should have permission to modify anything you create, but I did find some permission settings that didn't seem right and I changed them.

And yes, the "Open Discussion" under General Discussion is the one that is restricted, the one that the spam robots posted stuff to.

Hi Gandalf,

Yes, Modify is now an option.  I don't have a lot of posts but if the problem crops up again I'll let you know.  Thanks!
