Yep...it's in the air. I wake up and open the front door at 6:20am to get the paper and feel that rush of cool air, smell the leaves on the ground, take in the crisp, clear view of the stars and know that first frost is just around the corner.
Seems I think about skiing every second of the day now. It consumes my ability to work uninterrupted...wel l Ron and I talk a lot and there's emails from ski brothers and sister......and posters and pictures that surround me...but hey, they never seem to distract me when it's 95 out, well not as much anyway.
I await my new Watea's and know that I'm a good tune and 10 coats of wax away from those babies touching down. NOT including the top ski waxing I humor myself with.
My special ski ritual is around Nov 1st, I bring up my ready bag full of all my ski clothing. Yes I said ready bag...well just in case during any warm month or any month one of our members says, I won the lottery and I'm sending a plane to pick you up, and we're heading to BIG snow.....My ready bag is ready, yup! So, I bring up the bag, layout all the clothes and make sure all is in one piece. Think, is there anything I really need?? I try and remember the clothing combinations.....wh en it's this cold with wind I wear this combo, with wind I add, and these gloves and socks for this temperature.....etc . Don't laugh but, I empty all the pockets where I store the pill box with Advil, the swiss army knife, the watch, the gator, the plastic water collapsible bag, the powder straps, the cable lock, re-check the combination and oil if needed and THEN...repack so I remember where it all is. I like this...and sometimes, I find I find a western trail map from where I skied out west last...this always brings a huge smile!
It helps me "FEEL IT"!
Best to all hoping you're feeling it too!
