Packed yet?
« on: November 13, 2007, 01:58:24 pm »
Ok...anyone got their skivvies packed yet? 32 days and counting with great pleasure.

It would seem that my anxiousness is dissipating, I feel conditioned even better than last year due to my daughters recommendation to adding some yoga moves to my workout.

Now the hard part....watching the weather map, waiting for that big moisture event to hit California and drift up to the Rockies or come down from Washington and dump the big snows for us.

I hear they're blowing snow and do know that Steamboat can get clobbered big snow in hours....please do!

Anyone thinking I wish I had only done this to prepare for this ski trip OR

I must have this piece of equipment before going?

Me...I'm just ready..final coats of wax being brushed in, hoping to get the skis on the snow for at least a couple of runs before the boat.

Anyone planning on skiing anywhere before we meet at Steamboat?

Best,
Gary

Not packed, not planning, not expecting  --- but hoping.

Local places don't typically get open before Christmas.  Might drive "north" to Pennsylvania if anything up there opens up.

Some base layers
2 arc/ rho lite shirts
1 kjus base shirt
1 sali mid layer
i arc' vest
3 sweaters
1 pair jeans
1 pair khakis

Hi Gary,

I'll be in Utah & Colorado during the next week. I originally planned to ski in Utah, this was the planned opening date. However Alta has pushed back their opening date and Snowbird will probably also not open on time.

So I'll ski Loveland instead. This will be their 5th weekend operating, they have 2 chairs and 5 runs open. They are also holding a huge demo event. $45.00 buys unlimited demos from Head, Fischer, Dynastar, Elan & others, $45.00 also includes both lunch & lift ticket.

I'm planning on leaving my skis in the car.

Here is my list: Fischer Progessor, Watia 84 & 95, Head Supershape Magnum, i78M....

Two days of gear geek madness!

Michael

Jim...hope you find some snow in PA...not sure what they're forecasting. Holiday Valley may have snow by end of month. We're going to try and make some turns there. I'll keep you posted on snow conditions this far north.

Michael..Loveland can put some snow down for sure. Hoping they get some dumps before you get there.

Nice deal for demoing skis all day.  Sounds like a blast!

Hey, if they've got a Stockli Storm.....supposed to be a great ski....hey how about Line or any of the new kids on the block, I'd be curious of what you think. Seeing some good reviews on these skis.

Hmmm...how about the Volkl Tigershark...

Looking forward to hearing or reading about your test results.

Jim, it will be slim to nothing open here. Hunter and Windham will be open next week with their own versions of the WSTOD but nothing worthwhile. Last year, there was nothing until mid january.

I will wait until the weekend before to make the final decision on outfits. It will depend on weather forecasts. December can be very cold or NOT.

Apres-ski:
Blue satin ball gown
feather boa (matching, natch)
Gray charmeuse silk pants with cream colored beaded top
5 inch high heels (gray to go with both outfits)

I don't think I'll need anything else, do you??

i'm a little panicked but I will snow soon enough. They won't have the whole mountain open but there will be enough to ski on and have a great time,

I saw on the news last night that Vail and Steamboat have both decided not to open for Thanksgiving, and both hope to open by the end of the month.? :o? :o? So they are a little panicked.

However, I think it's way too early for us to even think about being panicked.? We've had our first really cool front move through, and it just feels like the weather patterns are changing.? It's getting close, but there's still PLENTY of time before Steamboat. ;D

no doubt, I didn't see the delay from Vail. With Thanksgiving a full week early it just seems worse than it is. that said, take a look on the SB mountain cam, and that's from the side of the mtn with snow.....  http://www.steamboat.com/mountain-cam-rendezvous.aspx
