Sooo, disappointing. Thought this might be my powder ski!!!
But Phil, if they are as stiff as the ones I demo'ed last year, then you are right, not for me.

New demo choice: the Fischer Vision Zeal. Waddaya think?
Better to find out now than later.

I am not familiar with that model. A ski that I will recommend is the Elan Free Spice. 128/88/108 a womans version on the 888. This years ski has fantastic graphics, but last year is IMHO butt ugly, but good I think Milehigh has demos cheap. See of they will sell them to you w/o bindings. Whiteroom might have a 159 Blizzard Eos leftover, that is also a real nice Powder option. Volkl Qheen Atttivas too.

Here is the FreeSpice 08 from MileHigh http://milehighathletic.com/snow/itemdisplay.php?model=Elan_Free_Spice_Skis_&id=280227217981 see if you can get it w/o binding, but even for 340 shipped it is a great choice.

Yes, part of the fun of this is demo'ing. This is the first year I have done so.
Do I NEED a powder ski??? NO. (kind of like asking if I NEED another pair of shoes)  :: ::))
Do I want? Yes. How often do I experience any serious powder. Pretty darn infrequently.
So, will savor the hunt for the right ski. ;D

I want to thank all of you for your thoughts. It has really helped me focus what the objective is here.
Part of it is the emotional part of buying skis and part practical. Fun to figure that out.

Hope Lynn doesn't consider this "Thread Hijacking", but I got a response from Peter already indicating that the RealSkiers info for the Nordica Victory was now fixed.

The trigger price on the Vision Vapors was $300.
Partly because I knew there was significant overlap with it and the ET's.

Now my focus is on expanding the ski quiver to include a more powder oriented ski.
I know that it is unlikely that I will get an '09 ski for that price and will adjust my trigger finger
accordingly.? ;)
I imagine that I would be purchasing these after 1/09 and may be able to get a decent deal,
though not the deal of the century.

Here's where I found my most recent purchase: http://www.evogear.com/default.aspx  They have a lot of new stuff; but it's a season or two old. At least worth a look IMHO.  :)

Lynn.....since you're truly considering a 2 ski quiver....

Would you travel out west with 2 pairs? I ask this becuase if you decide you want a western ski and eastern ski, the focus of the search may need further perspiration as well as inspiration!

Gary:?

Here is what I think, based on the above and having seen what good tastes Lynn has in clothes.

In Economics 101 the most common supply-demand chart is guns vs. butter.? You can't have lots of butter for the people if you are making lots of guns.

I think Lynn is realizing one of the derivatives of Econ 101, and that is the supply-demand chart for shoes vs. skis.? You can buy multiple pair of skis, or you can buy multiple pair of SHOES.? I predict, therefore, that just as the country is diverting resources to guns and away from butter that we are likely to hear Lynn talking about new pairs of shoes before we hear her talking about new pairs of skis.? It's a "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus" sort of thing.? We brag about our quivers of skis, but investment in skis pales in comparison to investment in shoes??? ?>:D? >:D

Ask yourself, would Lynn rather have a pair of Vision Vapors for $300 sitting in the garage or a new pair of (name a fancy shoe) high heeled pumps sitting there in the bottom of the closet for her to admire every day.? Sexist?? Maybe, but I rest my case.

Sincerely,
Prof. Jim

PS. And, to quote Ron, I'm going to really get blasted for this one.

Jim, you are my hero!   I hereby pledge to buy you a cup of coffee of your choice! (if you are still alive or capable of walking to the starbucks..)

Back to Lynn's skis. Lynn, I would encourage you to take a look at the Blizzards for this season. I see that almost the entire line of both men's and womens skis were well-recieved by all reviewers including Ski Press, ski-skiing. I don't think Peter reviewed any.
