Espresso machine for Steamboat...
« on: November 13, 2008, 12:27:55 pm »
Had to do it. I was over at my Sister's house. My bro in law bought a $100 Delonghi EC155  http://www.wholelattelove.com/reviews.cfm?itemID=1347#anchor machine, I was amazed what a good job it did for the price. HAD to get one for the AM kickstart......

Excellent! Feel free to walk in sub zero weather at 5 am for your cup of homoginized bulk "roasted" beans while I will be sitting in the comfort of a fireplace looking up the mountain sipping on a nice hot cup of cappichino brewed with carefully roasted premium beans....... ;D

Ron:

You missed part of the point.  Phil was volunteering to bring Dunkin Donuts coffee (and a pastry of your choice) back for you.

OH,, yes, I missed that point. But here's the thing

1- I don't eat pastries in the AM (very bad for my blood sugar)
2- I don't drink caustic crappy coffee

Speaking as one who was/is on the edge of Type II diabetes.

I few carbs in the morning followed by exercise ain't such a bad thing.

I found that there was a tremendous difference in how my body reacted to things that increase blood sugar when it was followed by exercise (even limited exercise).  Just the hint of exercise seems to energize the body to burn it.  Gorwing up (and especially high school basketball) they always encouraged us to separate eating and exercise (limits the non-snow type of puking), but that was long ago.

I remember one morning that I ate something (don't really remember what), waited 30 minutes and tested.  My blood sugar was in the high 100's. Went out and mowed grass (self propelled mower, so not rigorous exercise), came in and tested to find that my blood sugar was down at 85.  Target fasting blood sugar is 70-100 (first thing in the morning) but it roams all over the place during the day. I verified this on other occasions as well.  Even a brief brisk walk after dinner would drop blood sugar by large amounts.

Hey mister coffee pants....does you Delonghi make hazelnut hot chocolate?

So if what you say is true that espresso has LESS caffeine than regular coffee....maybe I could do some trial tests to see if my speech get's faster after 1/2 cup.

umm, mr. cofee pants?  Listen Flanders, >:D there is no such thing as hazlenut hot chocolate in my world, I think maybe you should try the grils quilting league, I think they have that and pink lemonade?

a double shot of espresso is said to contain the same amount of caffeine as a regular cup of coffee; and no! no way am I giving you espresso!

As back up,  I will be bringing a container of some nice organic ground espresso to be made via french press.
Not the kick in the ass that Ron craves, but a nice smooth java all the same. Frothed milk on top. Happy to add some chocolate. ;D ;D
You are welcome to schuss over if DD is too far.
Though, that machine sounds VERY APPEALING.

white chocolate is an oxymoron and is a foul-evil word similar to "jarred-garlic"....
