Just passing along my first banning my fellow global moderators.

I noticed the "Latest Member" handle and immediately found it abrasive.

I hope we agree this is not the site for blatant and intentional bad manners. Please advise if I am treading on our constitutions issues on free speech.

I agree with your assessment, and her account has been "deleted".

There are automated programs that know how to create accounts with forum software, even when the setup requires email confirmation.? They just set up email servers that always respond "Yes" to the email confirmation request.? These programs then try to automatically post "various and sundry" stuff to the forum, but a real person never has to hit the keyboard.?

Peter addressed that by requiring that a person post 4 replies somewhere other than the primary topic to validate that there are live fingers on the keyboard.? That stops the objectionable posts, but doesn't address the account names that get created.? I go through periodically and delete any accounts that have never logged onto the system, which picks up most of them.? Have also been deleting accounts that haven't been on the system for more that 360 days and never posted.? I assume that most of these accounts are from the spam deluge of summer 2007, but don't want to delete a real person.

No to spambot posting, but yes to spambot account creation with objectionable user name on the account.
