why we don't let Gary cook....
« on: December 08, 2008, 10:09:18 am »
Not to trash my friend Gary in any way or demean the hospitality he and Alice gave me last week.......

OK, so I am on the cell phone closing up some business Friday AM, gary makes me instant oatmeal, it was very nice of him..... I take a spoonful and almost spew it out across the kitchen... Apparently, Mr. Cassara felt that substituting water for Apple Cider when making the oatmeal.... Needless to say it was utterly disgusting....

That is pretty funny.  Even me, the complete non-cook, wouldn't even THINK of that substitution.

But, the real question, did he eat what he fixed???

Now in all fairness, I put on his bib, made him a scramlbed egg with cheese, and filled his sippy cup with nourisng nectar from the gods...

The oatmeal and apple cider is one of my favorites....adds a nice apple flavor to the mix and is nutrious as well. It also had raisins in it.

Come on Mikey, try it!

Well I did toss it cause I had already had my breakfast.

Wellll, apples and/or raisins cooked in the Oatmeal is wonderful.
But using apple cider instead of the water, that seems to be a stretch.

But I believe the truly great chefs are always experimenting; so obviously Gary was or is.

Why vinegar you say   ???...why that was a fine Honeysuckle Apple Cider....

YOur taste buds were so confused by that black mud you and Alice drank that morning..... >:(

Can ya taste anything at all after that "good" coffee?

I do suppose that ones taste buds are just that...from now on...plain ole water drenched oatmeal for you Ron. Geez...a guy tries to create a sparkling momment at breakfast time....and slammed...it's so tough trying to please all the time!  :'(

best,
;D
