Hmmm....not so much a co-ordination problem ......a comprehension problem..... :-\

Now..do you tip lift and jump, float, tip and hop,? ???? videos....would be helpful for my feeble mind.

For me...moderation and cross training provide the best results. I got rid of my wedge turn last year and feel set free? ?:P

But someday when I'm older...i wanna be like you.... ::)?

G? ?;D

1- could be a writing issue for me! but i would rather blame you!

2-if you can figure out how to do this without lifting or tipping, you wont have to... but you need to side shuffle (as it may be) so you do need to lift your foot while rolling it in order to move laterally.

3- moderation and training dont mesh!- this is cross-training

JBotti's exercise.....excrui atingly painful AND boring.

JBotti's exercise.....painfu l BUT pleasurable.

Lynn,

I took the liberty of fixing your quote.? What could be more pleasurable than amping up your Big Sky skiing in February twofold with a simple exercise done in the comfort of your own home?? You gotta watch out if you're heading to Montana -- Jbotti skis there and you'll see him down below you at the bottom of all the bump runs in Montana just waiting because he does his exercises? >:D

Well, he is a sweet, young thing who deserves to be way ahead  of me.
And I do admire all of you who have the mental capacity to do mucho drills and targeted exercise.

Me, my self-discipline gets used up elsewhere. Not sure where? ;D

I must say that I've skied with Lynn and have NEVER heard her say she has anything sore after skiing multiple days together......in a variety of conditions.

SO Lynn....whatever magic pill you're taking or whatever your secret workout entails.....IT WORKS!

I think my wife is on the same regiment....she's good at watching me working out....with cofee in hand....reading the papers.....and then she skis 6 days with me...

Must be the estrogen!!!!  :o ;D :o

What Estrogen??? ???

Used mine all up.
Got hairs sticking out all over my warty chin. :D

I did try JBottis ankle reps. They are a workout for the small muscles in the feet.
I have always found doing this kind of exercise difficult. I will try to do them when I watch TV
in the evenings. Which is only some nights, so won't be all that regular!

Drills and hard work help us make up for lesser natural ability.? As Gary mentioned, you have a natural grace on skis that most of us lack.? And Pssst, by the way Jbotti does drills too ... he learned the habit from Max? ;D

I think we can all learn a lot from Max. He works the drills harder than anyone and his skiing shows it. There are many different ways to advance, but religiously doing the drills (and doing them corretly and perfectly) creates progress faster than anything that I know.

I have a whole list of drills that I will focus on in the first week or two of skiing this season!!

Just resurrecting this old thread for a quick report out. I've been doing JB's ankle drills on a somewhat regular basis. While I do not have an ankle issues, it still hurts to go through a full set. Whenever the Phillies did the playoff thing, I did them watching the game, and, continue to do them at night. Damn Yankee's.

This fall I've been playing some golf. I walk and carry my clubs at a hilly, short course. At the end of a round, my ankles and feet are far less fatigued, but, the real improvement is my balance during the swing is much improved. I won't swear that the cause/effect is fully attributable to stronger ankle support, but, it sure seems to help. Philpug and I played yesterday in the 70 degree Philly weather. Ski season, so near yet so far away.

Phil also sold a pair of older skis at his shops swap meet, so I've got a store credit to spend. I'm thinking about a Transpack to carry boots and stuff as a backpack plus.

The old skis were Machette Sin's and were the first pair of shaped skis I used after returning to skiing following a 10 year hiatus. Not great eastern ice skis, but, they worked really well in soft or spring snow. I've a lot of good memories about the days I did on them, and, it still bothers me that it was time to sell them. Phil tells me the new buyer is a big guy returning to skiing, just like the original owner. So they are recycled!

Bring on the snow.

Go transpack for sure, does HH approve those?  Do they cause unwanted rotation? Do they allign properly when carried?  :)

Time for new skis and Uncle Phil is rights (Again- he usually is) go for something up to date.

Been doing my foot shuffles I can now lift a VW with my big toes.... :)

I have a Transpack and it is great!!  My helmet and gloves and goggles and all that little stuff goes in easily.  Will fit in airline carry-on if you don't want to be separated from your boots.  Batteries and small stuff goes in the sipper pocket.  Too heavy  as a general backpack, but awesome at what it is built for.

My other suggestion, if you don't have one, is a Sport Tube for taking your skis flying.  Much better and handier than soft ski bags.

I use the sidekick for travel, it has a nice internal pouch for my netbook. I pack my helmet but I can fit more in this version than the regular version. If you don't pack the helmet, it lays down flatter in the overhead. I also like the boot setup so that I can easily unclick and take them out and lay them on top of the bag. This is an issue on small planes like a CRJ 700 or a small Embrarer.

Ron,

A two thumbs-up from both you and Phil, about gear, overrules Harald anyday!  ::) Don't you know that already?
Jim's thumbs-up is icing on the cake.

Worst thing about playing golf with Phil is he has a few hours to plant the "I need more gear" seeds into my head. The store credit I'm taking would just be a down payment on all his suguestions. You two are a bad pairing.

I love the transpack. I can also say that the Hot Gear bag is also pretty sweet. In Montana where I am always getting into my boots inisde in the warmth, I use the transpack. In Tahoe where I am often getting into my boots in the parking lot, the Hot bag is awfully sweet. The other great thing about it is that on a trip you can dry your boots in it at night. It is not as ergonomicaly designed as the transpack but it has some great features.

As for new gear: YES!! And lots of it!! May i suggest some Kasltle FX 84"s!! I think Phil may be able to get you a pair because you golf with him. (I have never seen Phil play but that has got to be worth quite a bit!! :D).?
