You might want to post on the PMTS site. Probably get a bite quickly.

Greg,
Still waiting for a review of the RX70's. Are you skiing or on hold from your being knocked down?

Two weeks ago, I got hit and fell on my left hip. It's been bothersome and is limiting my skiing.

Been on light, cautious duty for a couple weeks.? Waxed the RX's again last night, going to ski them tonight.

I was thinking HH might not like books being "resold" on his site...

Greg,
HH did a post recently stating that his first two books are out of print/not available and he wants to obtain the rights and have them republished. Put a post in the "Gear" section, worst that can happen is you can't post anymore. But as your selling the books..... do you care? I don't have the CD from ES 1 should you wish to do a minor breakup, I'd buy it.

Really-expert 1 and 2 are out of print?/  That's too bad as they are the best of the Harb Publications.  I know the Harb faithful all talk up harb's 'masterpiece' Essentials of Skiing-but I could never get that anal-er-focused about ski development and liked the more ecumenical and less-dogmatic early books.

Expert 2 is a pretty Jim-Dandy book (and it's got all most folks ever really need from PMTS).

Liam,
Someone from Europe posted looking to buy Expert 2. HH actually sold him his personal copy because he no longer had any stock. I assume the original publisher did not want to do another run, and, Harb is trying to obtain publishing rights. An author signs away a ton of rights to get something published.

I agree that Expert 2 is the best of the series and if I could approach the skiing in the CD for that video, I could ski with JB, Gary and Ron ;D. This body, in this lifetime, is not going to get into the deep flexing positions in the model turn of Essentials. Yet, Essentials advances PMTS and I've always thought the real target audience was racers and coaches.

Mike don't limit yourself my friend. the bigget part of the enjoyment of skiing should be experiencing the mountain, the beauty and commeraderie (sp) don't sweat the techniqu part so much, it's not important and really who cares! (or should) It's good to be ble to ski in control and at a certain level but you're out there in the good stuff and having fun. Just keep the body in the fall line on the steeper deeper stuff (flash back to GT)! But you do just fine and I will ski with you any day!!! :)? I have much to learn and experience.?

I disagree on what is Harald's best book. As much as I think that ACBAES 1and 2 are excellent books and both made a huge difference in my skiing, the main focus of both books is the phantom move and the three releases, phantom, super phantom and weighted). The essentials is a comprehensive treatise on how to ski, pretty much for top to bottom starting with the feet and tipping and going through the entire kinetic chain. IMO it is the single best comprehensive ski instruction book ever written. My good freind Thor Kallerud who was the head coah of the USST continues to say that same thing. If I was starting out and was buying one book it would be the essentials.

I am little pumped. I am going back to MT next wednesday for 12 days. That following Monday, Harald and Diana are coming out to ski for 6 days!! Nothing propels my skiing like a few days working with Harald and Diana!!

You lucky dog!
Have a wonderful time. And yes, skiing with either of them is fun and full of info.

It took me a while, but once I understood a bit more of the basic premises and realized my learning style (I can't do mirror image stuff, gotta be standing on their same side when looking at drawings in the snow or trying on drills), I found I didn't want to miss anything said during camp. Froze my a** off one day because I was getting so much from Haralds "eye". Should have gone inside a run earlier.

I particularly love Diana's sense of humor.

Hope you get lots of snow.

Lynn

I will vote for Essentials NOW.? However, at the time I read ACBAES I it was the right book for this terminal intermediate because it talked about a lot of the other viewpoints that I had heard.? It helped me understand what Harald was teaching and also contrasted that with other viewpoints. For example, it explained why my ski patrol friend was telling me to unweight.? He's a wonderful skier, but couldn't explain the why, and I'm not good with the "just do this" approach to teaching. That whole "compare and contrast" approach was an information treasure trove for me at the time.

At the current time, I reference the Essentials book exclusively; haven't been back to the other two in a while.

However, would also put in another vote for 'just enjoy the skiing'.? The day that I don't stop to just enjoy the beauty of the hill and the poetry of being outside and on the snow is the day that I've asked Lynn to kick me real hard, in whatever part of the anatomy she chooses.? Talk about a motivator.? ;D
