Nice disclaimer Jim....Hey....60 ain't so bad when you try to keep yourself in good shape and ski with a bunch of young pups!

Elbow is for sure getting better. I was talking to Ron this morning and mentioned that I tried a little longer pole and wondered if that caused more impact given all the bumps I skied this season. I just may shorten mine by a 1/2" or so or not ski so many bumps next season....yeah right!

JB....absolutely a great point on hand position and the touch...great stuff and I find it keeps the upper body quiet.

Best, g

Gary, the pole length creates more of fulcrum of pressure on the forearm but I don't think a .5" will matter much. Like I said, your poles are about 2" longer than mine and I am 4" taller!  All in all, over gripping and the flicking movement is the biggest culrit for damage. Oh, and banging bumps for 7 days straight may have something to do with it!  You mad-man!

G,
I was remembering that you were the one-armed skier when we meet in Jackson 2 years ago. Ron was the "gimp" prior to becoming the surgically repaired "fitman". ::) Two guys just ripping JH groomers when they probably should have been resting. I knew right away I needed to ski more often with you guys.

You don't need no stink'in poles. ;D

Buying poles too long is one of the few correctable errors in ski gear purchasing.

Ok gang...some good stuff here and thanks for the support except for the Cherry Blossom sniffing Jim  >:D!

Elbow is really coming along well..about 85% now and I think it's just that's it's not being jamed and kicked back....but I do like the idea of the swingless pole plant and apply do that on groomers.

I know my poles are longer than yours Ron but I just used the "arm at right angle" set up...still..

I've skied with shorter poles before (by 2") and no problem there but I wasn't banging the bumps as much and use is use...and sometimes overuse can cause problems, this we know.

In any event .....life is good and I'm already dreaming of runs in Chile!

Gary,
From an MD - what Ron said.  That is pretty much right on.  I would emphasize the stretching and you have to do it every day at least twice and always once you are warmed up.  It can be as simple as standing and making a fist in both hands, locking you elbows and flexing at the wrist and hold for 30-60 sec to get the lateral aspect and then standing again with straight arms, palms uo and fingertips on a wall or golf cart and gently lean in until you feel the stretch for another 60 sec for the medial aspect.

Tincture of time

Advil if needed

Fish oil might help as well as vit D3

And for you of course some Geritol would help.  If you don't believe me, the guy in this add takes it every day  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pni9ZePXR-w&feature=related

Hey Perry....so good to hear from you...and thank you for the MD advise..nice!

Ok...so I'm golden on the Fish Oil and D....good stuff.

I know the tendonitis healing is a "tincture of time"...and patience is the primary factor.

I am however fortunate that this particular injury does not affect my abilty to type OR play golf....thank goodness for that.

Hope all is well with you and would like to how you ended up your ski season both trips and skill wise.

Best, Gary
