just trying to keep the forum active...

so here's what I have planned this season:

December- no real plans! Steamboat sometimes near Christmas or the second week, just not sure.  Trying to hang loose and maybe jump out to where the snow is best. Second week in December is just tough..  Tahoe?

January- wildhorse powder cats!  Yeah baby, heading up to BC to cat ski for 3 days. Can't wait.
Snowmass- Greg and I are doing the ESA clinic, a good combo of pure social skiing and leaning a few things too. Some great back bowl steeps and technical instruction. As long as it's not too much structure....  I crashed last years and thought it was very well run and organized.

February- tahoe- Steamboat

nothing else planned so far except April to close out Vail, this was a blast last year.

I bought my first pair of AT bindngs (dukes) and plan on doing some skinning this season. A lot of fun to hike to the goods.

Ron and I were having a discussion about planning the other day. I could be talked into joining up in the Feb Steamboat skiing. Need to do some powder plus tree skiiing. The last time I visited the 'boat, my 35 year old son was a year old. I was drinking my daily java today from Steamboat mug. Gotta get back.

Any interest in Vt skiing sometime in Dec?

Hey Mike, that's the problem with Steamboat (and almost evreywhere) at that time, there's usually not enought cover to get into the trees, its pretty much just groomers.

VT in december?  maybe an early run up to loosen up the parts, sounds good, we should see as it gets close to where to go.

Hmm.... ski with Phil and Tyler  :o. At Jackson last year, I named Tyler the "White Wizzard". Whenever I skied ahead of him, he went flying by me so fast that he left a white wall of snow behind him. Couldn't keep up with Phil when he was in Pa, now that he's living in Reno, well, let's just say that he should be outta sight.

On second thought, sounds like fun! ;D

No sure plans yet. Am looking at a strong possibility of being laid off come January. Waiting to see if enought attrition occurs before then.

So sad, I could have plenty of time to ski, but no funds to.
New job, probably no time to ski.
What a conumdrum!

sounds like the perfect segway to moving out west and at least skiing. a door closes, another opens, we just need to be willing to see it. ....   maybe?

I am tied too closely to NYC, both by family and finances, to consider moving out west.
But I DO dream!!

Lynn,
A favorite saying is from the NY Yankee Yogi Berra - when you come to a fork in the road, take it? ::)

A guess from what's happening in Philly is that hospitals are closing maternity sections.

In my early 50's my lifelong employment ended in a corporate downsizing. Parachute was maybe bronze, sure not gold. Getting cut free is a time of danger and also a time of opportunity to figure out the rest of your life, which becomes a never-ending process. The past decade has had it's share of good and down time, but, I've become a lot more accountable, learned that entitlement concepts no longer apply.

I fully trust you will thrive, but, just in case good luck!
