Ski Logik Howitzer

I have been in email contact with Dave at SkiLogik. As we all know the Chariots are a 101mm waisted ski with a tight TR and no rocker (although it does have some serious twin tips). The trend towards rockered tip and tail in skis with traditional camber appears here to stay. Having said that if you look at what most of the big name pros are skiing, generally they like tip rocker but do not like tail rocker. I agree with this assessment. I'm not sure I love tip rocker (although in small amounts it's ok) but I know I hate tail rocker. The good news is that the Howitzer has only tip rocker. It sounds like Dave made this to be a a freindly ski, not overly stiff. Below are his answers to my questions about the ski. I will demo this as well in early November.

These were my questions:
Is it just tip rocker or both tip and tail
How much and from where (e.g 5mm/15cm)
What is the running length of the ski (I believe it?s only 1 length at 186cm)
Can you also tell me about the Rocker on the Bomb Squad (probably too wide for my taste but still curious).

Here is his response:
1) Tip only.

2) 300 mm rocker length and 60 mm tip height.

3) Effective edge 1409 mm.

4) 310 mm and 65 mm tip height.

Our so-called Rocker Logik design gives you a complete effective edge with positive camber plus a rockered tip in the front. It skis normal because it is normal along the entire effective edge - but also has the benefit of rocker for pow. There's no rocker in the tail so you can load it. The Howitzer is not quite the carver that Ullr's Chariot is, but it's very easy turning also despite its width. I designed it with a lighter construction to make it agile despite its width. Extremely versatile. It rose to the top in Freeskier mag's tests. They didn't have Ullr's Chariot and I don't think Peter had the Howitzer! The difference between the two is a slight difference in style of skiing and snow type. They're very different from a design and construction point of view, but both are very versatile across a wide range of conditions.

If I was buying an out west ski, I would want to demo both.  Plus you have to love the name,
"What ski are you riding?"
