Anyone up for joining me at Squaw?

The next time you ski wit da boyz, you'll be knockin' their ski socks off!

Yeah Baby!

Snow Hot,

I'm coming to Reno sometime this winter, and, I'm sure you'll knock my skiing socks off. But, I also know that you would do that back in Mich. hills too. Expect to hear a lot of "wait up" when I join  you and Phil.

I'm curious about your skiing skills goals for the year as you get to ski a big time mountain plus with some really excellent skiers on a regular basis. It seems like such a great opportunity to "kick it up a notch or two". Do you intend to work with anyone on your skill development or do video? While I'm not one to listen to several different instructors, but, I'm always open to feedback from a really good pair eyes.

I know you participate in Epic programs and this free ride program looks like a great opportunity to learn, but, how do see the year from a technique development perspective. Of course, just ripping works too!

Mike, as usual, I'll be administrating a couple of ESA's this winter, one of which I'll be a student.  Not sure which coach I'll get but then the caliber of coaching is always incredible.
But for me, its the tactical side of coaching that I look forward to the most this winter, not because I've achieved all I can in the technical area, because I haven't, but because I am not so sure that the technical stuff will do a lot for me if I don't get rid of some of the head games I have and get in touch with the tactical side of myself.

This is the year to break it out!

wise statement!  You have to get comfortable on how to approach and ski the mountain. If you can't get comfortable navigating and reading the terrain, the skills will only go so far. A balance is needed for sure but I would rather (and do in fact) have less technical ski skills but be able to ski more of the mountain. Good on ya' TC!  its your season.  Go git sum'   (thumbs up emodicon)

Educated guess is this is the source of your "Sometimes you have to let your bad self ski" signature. Thanks for sharing.

I relate! Last year, I made a lot decisions on where and how to ski to protect my shoulder especially during the Jackson Hole trip skiing tougher terrain with my buds who post here (Phil, Gary and Ron) and the JH locals who just ski at such a higher level. Letting go is a demon we all dance with on the mountain. In retrospect, I went for more terrain than I expected at the start of the year, but, when it got to a certain point, I couldn't cross that line. Self preservation is a strong incentive. A whole new chapter starts in a few weeks. Here's to the 10-11 season! Rock on!

Rachel was in the group and I admire her tenacity and love of difficult terrain on a big mountain. The two of you are twin sisters of different mothers. ;D Enjoy the clinic.

Its funny you should say that because Rachel and I have talked a bit about this.
She and I ski the same terrain, at the same level, however I'm a bit stronger technically, while she has a whole lot more RAWR!
Her RAWR takes her places with tenacity that I do tentatively.
This is about to change!

Rachel arrived last night.
No Fresh snow for the event but plenty of great base and phenomenal early season conditions to serve up some good times.......
Can't wait!

Oh yeah, Rachel brought Pastrami from kitzki's, for Phil.  I tried to taste a little but nearly lost a finger.

Note to self:  Don't get between Phil and good pastrami.

And I'll tell Ingrid you have a crush on her.  I'm sure she'll return the sentiment.

Trish,

Say Hi to Rachel for me and have a great weekend. I don't even want to try to think about keeping up with both of you.

Do you like Tastycakes?

And speaking of Women of the Board, I met and skied with Midwif yesterday. Jim tried to mate with her on a ski trail, but, I let her explain.

Mating???What's that?? ???  :-X ???

Seriously, just a slight ramming, er, er, I mean collision between Jim and myself.

He didn't think he had done anything than run over my skis.
However, the loose tooth and swollen neck muscle tell a different story!! (slight exaggerations here).

He's been making up for his moment of......hmmm, what should I call it? unintentional close contact of  a skiing kind?
with lots of neck massages.

To all you ladies enjoying EWE only skiing, HAVE a GREAT TIME!!

Oh Jim....you're dumb like a fox...sure  accidently bumping into the ladies behind.....maybe it was ski mating season or just a slight miscalculation meant to bring the mandatory 6 hours of neck rubs...

Oh yeah...dumb like a fox....ole Jimbo....still has the moves!  >:D

Fess up Jim....were you texting someone? ::)

Gary,

Two quick memories.

From me: Watch out for Ron. The first morning I met and skied with you all at Jackson Hole, Ron tried same tactic on Alice. I'm sure you offered massage services that night, you dog you.

While I did not see the collision as I was way behind the two speeding bullets, It was scary seeing Lynn. She was just laying still and flat on the snow. A true garage sale with poles and skis all over the place.

While it's not in the "code", the more I ski, the more I realize that skiing in parallel or near someone else is an invitation for a collision. For couples like Jim and Lynn who ski about the same pace and are always near one another ( and that's a good thing ), it's a danger that should be discussed more often. Give others in your group plenty of space.

The second memory is from Lynn and learned at Elk. It seems when Lynn first began to post on Real Skiers it was not apparent to all (duhh) that she is a she. Gary was challenging her to join in a December trip by posting "Come'on Guy, join up!". Can't take the Rochester out of him.
