just a note: The S3 in a 184 actually has the same or less running length than the 177, the difference in length is really just tip rise. Its still a great ski but I think he's too big for it.  isn't Perry like 200# and 6 plus?

Yes, which is why I moved away from the S3.  I think others may be better.  Will post on the other thread.

yep!  I wish I skied about a 100 days as I would like to have the S3 as another fun go to ski.

BTW - I am a nanometer from buying my skis ???
? mikes comment about not spending vacation standing around ski shops waiting for the binding adjustment made too much sense.

Perry,
It's scary to think that people listen to what I write. It's no fun in the demo shops in the early morning and they may not have what you need.

After getting bounced around on the great eastern powder at Hunter today (read between the lines on that one - really hard snow conditions) Elk has to be softer. So guys, to the extent I can, I'll concentrate on the wider skis discussed here.

BTW, was on the MX88's for the first time this season today, nicely tuned thanks to G's diamond file thread. I continue to be smitten, stoked and seduced by that ski. A friend, who was with me two days ago at Blue when I was on the Shapes, commented that my skiing is much more confident today on more difficult terrain and at higher speeds. I can quibble that it's not a fair comparison based on what I was trying to do each day, but the range of the 88's is far greater. They rock!

great Mike!  Way to go.  The 88 is sill one of the greatest ski's ever. I want to ski mine again but I keep getting all this powder where ever I go....

Heading off to Ymir British Columbia on Monday (near Nelson and White river ski) http://skiwhitewater.com/   plan to demo a bunch of skis in the 60's and 70's and work on my extreme carving skills.......

but when I get back in all seriousness, Mike, lets get out for some runs up at Blue!

oh yeah, were working on our tipping skills in knee to waist deep powder.  I have been filing my edges all week I don't want any skidding or unnecessary vibrations coming off my tails........  I was thinking about taking big boards, the mx78s out there but I don't want to make it any easier than it could be and I really want to sink down as  much as possible...... ;D

Ron,
Being a little redundant, but....

May your powder in B.C. be as deep as the above B.S.

well, I had already paid my deposit, Mike didn't care enough to tell me far enough in advance, I don't think he wants to ski with me, my fat ski's and my bad PSIA habits   ;D
